What is the word with Matt Waletzko?

He was a 5th rounder who is still in the roster heading into year 4. Thats not bad value for the pick
You are correct. However, Cowboys fans think every pick that doesn’t yield a Pro Bowl caliber pick is a bust.

This is one reason why we are widely considered one of the least intelligent fan bases

Come on between shoulder injuries and riding the bench this draft pick yielded nothing on the field in regular season games . It’s ok to look at him and Josh Ball as later round OL busts which is exactly what they are . No one expected Pro Bowl but at least be in the running for depth .

Someone is going to grab Richards as a cheap FA and have a steal of a decent starting tackle.

Played well from what I can tell. As of right now, not only is he better than Waletzko, but he is better than Guyton also.

Watch and see if this team doesn’t start its third best LT this year just because.
I think they will keep Richards and let Matt walk. Richards I thought looked fairly solid for a guy with few reps

I agree. I thought he filled in well and is a capable player. Hope they figure a way to retain him but doubtful. Someone is gonna notice they can get a starting tackle for a reasonable cost because he rarely played.

I think he is the best LT option (as of now) behind Smith, who they apparently want to leave at guard. Wouldn’t take a whole lot to be better than Steele either….but Guytons draft status and Steeles contract make them the front runners as starting tackles.

They are playing with fire with a physically limited QB and tackle problems on each side. A lot rides on Guytons progress, but the bottom line is it sure feels as if the case could be made that Richards is part of the “best five,” which is no more than lip service.

What is the word with guy?

There’s times I actually forget he’s on the roster. Yet, here we are, he’s entering into his fourth season.

You never read/hear any rumblings about him like “coaching staff really feels Waletzko has turned the corner…Waletzko pushing for playing time…” If this guy could develop into our primary swing tackle I’d count it as a win.
He had multiple shoulder injuries / surgeries. I think last season was first one that he remained healthy. Active 7 games in 2024.

Considering they have about 17 OL on the current roster, his chances of making the 53 seem low.

And then there's the even less intelligent ones who think a draftee that never plays is a success.

Was there really a need for the childish insult?

Waletzko hasn't been able to start in the last 4 years and holding. It seems very questionable whether or not he'll ever be able to start at this juncture. Time might not be on his side. It's anyone's guess whether he'll be able to stick around much longer. I haven't seen that he's likely to ever be a valuable backup. Perhaps it's quite possible that the Turk might be knocking on his door, unless he displays talents that he hasn't shown by now.
