Dak Prescott is the 4th highest paid athlete in the world

This is a new perspective for me. I thought it was ridiculous that he is the highest paid NFL player, but 4th highest paid in any sports? Wow. He is not even the 4th best QB in his own sport.

I like Dak. I have nothing against him personally. But his greedy deal, and I sincerely believe it is greedy to accept that kind of money for his performance, makes him less likeable to me.

The problem is, Dak can never play well enough to earn $60 million. He is just not that good.

As much as it makes me angry with Dak, I also know the real culprit is Jerry Jones. After all, if my employer offered me a new salary twice what I was worth or 30% more than I was worth, I would take it too. Not one person among us would turn it down. I don't blame Dak for accepting Jerry's offer. Jerry could have said no. He could have done nothing and let Dak play under his old contract for 1 more year.

But Jerry agreed to $60 million. He agreed to a no trade clause. He agreed to only 4 years. Heck, he agreed to all that and the no franchise tag on Dak's previous contract which was also a big mistake.

Yet, Jerry strolls around with his chest puffed out like he did something good for the Cowboys. Go figure.
I have to say honestly, that if I was offered a jumbo salary, much more than I deserved, at the expense of my coworkers, who all work just as hard as I do, I think I'd probably negotiate to give them all a little more, and take a little less for myself.

I wouldn't mind being paid a higher salary than any other person in the company, but I hope I'd draw the line at making more than any other two or three people.

Not to me, I am not paying a penny of it. Give him or Parsons $100 million a year, who cares - its all ridiculous now anyway. To play a sport half of the damn year, LOL. THATS THE FUNNY PART.
But the more he's paid, the less that's available to sign better players than we have. That's what we care about. If the elite players around the league were willing to take less, just to play with Dak, we'd all be fine with it.

Agreed.

Tired of all the crybabies around here.

Where are all the grown ups?

Interesting comment… “Where are all the grown-ups?” In the real world it’s kids that don’t know any better…they don’t understand the value of a dollar. It’s a grown-up’s job to teach the young ones what value really means. You kinda have it backwards.

Dak hit the life(generational) jackpot by being in the right place at the right time. His rookie year made him in Jerry's mind when most would agree its was made on Zeke destroying teams his first couple years and one of the most dominating OLs in awhile.

First contract which I didnt like paying someone coming off a gruesome, game changing injury but he however was improving and moving in the right direction.

Second extension was beyond one of the dumbest decisions in franchise history let alone league history IMO. Only the Watson contract is worse.

Right timing, made by the players around him, and senile owner.

Really? How so? Explain yourself. Let's see how smart you really are...

They all have boasted way more success than Dak
But so what? I mean really. If you haven't won a superbowl, then you cares how close you have come? 1 winner and 31 losers every year. Whether you are eliminated from playoff contention in Week 10 or lose the Superbowl, you have failed to meet the objective.

Because if Dak got to the Superbowl and lost in overtime, it still wouldn't be good enough. Not on this board. Not in the media. Would it?
And let's face it. If there was no salary cap, his salary would not be an issue. And if there was no salary cap, nobody on here would have any faith that this front office could build a winner even in those circumstances.
So again, who cares how much he makes?

Dak Prescott was drafted into the perfect situation if you’re him.

Yeah Dak had to wait a bit, but took Jerry to the cleaners eventually. Let see how it goes from here with that hammy.

If Dak Prescott had been drafted by the Jags he'd be out of the league or a career backup

To be fair, this is the Forbes ranking and it’s a little misleading. It you go to the original article by Forbes, they explain the quirk in the Dak comments.

https://www.forbes.com/sites/brettknight/2025/05/15/the-worlds-10-highest-paid-athletes-2025/

Forbes calculates using May to May. Because Dak restructured in March, he basically had 2 salaries counted in 1 year.

For their calculations they count on-field and off-field (endorsements). For on-field, his income was $127M. For off-field, it was $10M.

Still overpaid IMO but I wanted to provide some context.
Please dont interfere with our rage

I do understand the ramifications those huge salaries have on the salary cap and how it affects whats left over to fill out the roster with - of course. But do you really believe the Jones Boys with all the $ in the world would know how to build a championship roster? I have zero faith in that/them. So when you look at it like that - then who cares about the $, so long as i don't have to pay it.
No human is worth any of these salaries to play a game half the year. Meanwhile people who work hard year round and actually make a difference in peoples lives get peanuts in comparison. None of it makes any sense, its a circus. Just enjoy the show. Thats all Im saying.

I don't blame Dak at all. He and France played Jerry and the league like a drum. I'm pretty confident that at least 99% of posters/fans would have signed the same contract. All Jerry had to do was play his cards right.......
**$55.5M would have still made Dak the highest paid ( Burrow was the highest at $55M)
** Dak test market and give him a chance to match

That said, it's water under the bridge now, and he'll be here for at least two more years. He still has my support as long as he's playing well.
Jerry is not a football guy. Jerry is a Marketing Guy. A genius Marketing guy... That is all.
