He’s never came close to doing it. Until the front office gets serious about the Quarterback position then the team will never come close to doing it.
I havent even seen a roadmap into what to expect from Dak in 2025 (let alone PLAY-OFF/SB).I don't see how anyone thinks he is capable of leading a team to the SB. His choking threshold is so low combined with his inconsistency. He isn't a complete QB. He lacks the accuracy and ability to throw players open. His movement isn't what it was and his mental state is worse than when he started playing.
Usually a QB that is capable of winning a SB has the physical and mental ability but doesn't have the team. In Daks case he doesn't have either.
If you want to change the culture; fine: take Jerry, take all the Jones......but take away Dak and that contract as well. It’s not Dak it’s the culture here, the Jones's and that ain’t changing.
Dan Quinn’s defense got lit up against the Packers as well
But who’s gonna steal your money at the stadium, at least he keeps us contending and butts in seats. Not that I agree but that is the reason for the contract. If you want to change the culture; fine: take Jerry, take all the Jones......but take away Dak and that contract as well.
gotta admit that was fun.Yes. If the defense can get 9 TO’s in the game like the 92 Cowboys.
In the 2023 season the Cowboys led the entire NFL with 9 All Pros......last season no team had more than 6.No doubt Dak is capable enough to lead the team to the Super Bowl. Like all QB’,s he needs a SB level supporting cast.
Can the 3rd best QB in the division lead the Cowboys to a super bowl? No.
But that's the point we're trying to get through......Jerry's fault as he's all about the marketing (over football) and Dak's fault for not playing up to the value of the contract. But who’s gonna steal your money at the stadium, at least he keeps us contending and butts in seats. Not that I agree but that is the reason for the contract.
This. It's a three-ring circus that Jerry creates every year and there are countless obstacles to winning, with a head coach with no authority at the top of my list. The issue has never been Dak, but the owner who is also a GM.
Look at they're last Super Bowl team. Yes, it was with Switzer and not Johnson, but then look at the relationship with Aikman and Switzer. Seemed like Aikman was more motivated to win and not lose vs his own head coach.
The owner and GM of the cowboys had a proven leader in a coach named Johnson, but the owner/GM could not take being second in the spot light.
Someone once previously mentioned that when he saw the dirty birds last SB win, it actually took him a little while to figure out who the owner actually was on their victory celebration on national TV. The reality is that would NEVER happen with the current owner / GM of the Cowboys. He (the GM and owner) wants the credit? He can take the blame IMO.
How many owners (who is also the GM) land a helicopter at their training facility and stop practice? At least it made the news![]()
Dak got just as close as Romo did to winning a divisional playoff game and he has the same post season record as Romo. Was Romo not good enough to win a divisional playoff game? Answer: Both QBs are good enough to make a deep playoff run but we can't win because a) the hc has no authority, b) the defense is still not good enough, and c) because Jerry puts up so many obstacles to winning and insists on running every facet of the organization. He’s never came close to doing it. Until the front office gets serious about the Quarterback position then the team will never come close to doing it.
Given the talent around him, I would say no, he isn't good enough. But I'd also add that the two quarterbacks better than him in the division couldn't do it on the Cowboys either. Can the 3rd best QB in the division lead the Cowboys to a super bowl? No.
