Your Breakout Player not Named Mazi Smith or Tyler Guyton

Like the title says::If you say Guyton or Smith you're a smelly, illiterate moron.

Who is 1) the player you want to breakout?

2) Who do you think actually breaks out as a Cowboy either from being a backup to FA, UDFA or someone who isn't an obvious shoo in

I want Schoonmaker to breakout big time. I think this offensive personnel suits his style well and he also suits his teammates' potential well. If Schoonmaker played to his absolute ceiling, this offense could be deadly

I think Jayden Blue breaks out as a rookie 5th round pick. It's just all there. You don't have the size. But the speed, balance, and shiftiness is there. Guy is nimble like Achane.

I think Juanyeh Thomas breaks out. In some ways he reminds me of Bill Bates, hangs around and hustles himself into a starting job. Training at the NFL level could pay off for a guy who was already pretty athletically gifted. Just needed to train and hone in his instincts to the next level. I'm glad Eberflus seems to be giving him a shot.
Liufau. Possibly one of Thomas or Mukuamu

"want to breakout" would be one of the two rookies who needs to start for us, so Booker or Revel.

Who I think breaks out. Based on reading this board and what many posters expectations on here seem to be: Sam Williams. I think he will be second on the team in sacks (he was 3rd on the team two years ago in his second season) with 6 plus and possibly 8. As a point of reference if you don't think that is breaking out, only 27 players in the entire league had 8 sacks last year so less than one per team.
Realistic because he got 4.5 sacks in 300 snaps in 2023. Dont know that the opportunity to do more will be there though. He will probably get about the same snap counts he did in year 2

Don’t know if anyone’s mentioned him but mine is Hunter Luepke. Schotty made a point of mentioning him in this weeks presser so I can see him having a bigger part this year than in the past.

Fergy. I think he is highly motivated from a down year and will never have less coverage with our 2 receivers out there. I also think beebe ends up in the pro bowl.
That’s the one I’m hoping for. Sam Williams as a sleeper.

I'll give you credit, you prop your guy. I don't see Cropper making the team. He might can ride the PS another year, though.
One more thing on Cropper, film shows he's an NFL ready receiver even if he would be a #3 or 4 starting out here, his skills alone would have gotten him drafted.

But he has the same problem Blue has: he fumbles a lot. But not for the fumbling problem, he likely would have been a late 4th to late 5th round pick...Smallish frame, which I don't understand why they're not working on that in general.

Overall, Cropper is just a better player than Mingo..He's slick and could be a Cole Beasley/Stephon Diggs type hybrid.

He reminds me a lot of Josh Downs. Just needs to work on fumbling.

Whereas, Mingo is OK, but really stiff in the hips. That's why he can never be Deebo Samuel. I see what the Cowboys see, but the smarter bet is Cropper. He's a better player right now. I think he makes the team if he had never fumbled as KR in the preseason.

I mean, take out the 4th round pick and tell me who's better?

It's Cropper.
I don't know. Cropper has 0 NFL catches. Mingo has 60. Advantage Mingo.

Not saying Cropper wouldn't do more if given the chance, but we don't know that. All we know right now is that he hasn't forced the team to give him a chance. You could say he just hasn't gotten it because he's a UDFA, but other UDFA receivers have not only made the 53 in the past but contributed.

I think you see more there than the NFL evidence shows. Maybe you are right, but no team has seen him as an NFL-ready receiver. Even if Dallas doesn't, any other team that does could have stolen him off our practice squad.
