Mafah needs to make the team!

Besides bringing a tough inside run element to the team that last name of his is a meme machine and will be a cause for great laughter. He must make the team!!!

Thoughts?
I think that he will make the team. It will be interesting what backs get to play in the preseason.

I think Mafah can be part of the committee. But they will work him in slower than Blue, who wants to be rookie of the year.

What are the odds he achieves that goal?

I'd make a thread about it, but I already have several. Maybe Coogi can pick up my slack.

Got to love what he can become, but it's a crowded room. Some think that just because we drafted him that he's an automatic lock to be on the roster. All depends on how Williams and those guys play, I'd love to see him out there

How about we just wait and see if he makes the team.. You can't just have a player that you're hopeful enough and then he gets a free pass onto the roster he's gonna have to just earn his way that's the fun part of this running back group and a defensive tackle group both those positions are wide open for the taken I mean the depth chart is wide open so let them come take it I can't wait to see practice reports but preseason all these running backs will have to prove themselves all of them on the field and we get to watch it they'll have to play real games in preseason and when I mean real games meaning live games that we get to see them trying really hard to make the roster..

I just want to hear someone say "he's a to mafah to tackle!"

I can't bring myself to have that level of expectation of a 7th rounder. Hopes/aspirations/ambitions, certainly. It's absolutely within reason to think maybe he could. But healthy skepticism demands lucidity, and there's no basis right now to believe he will be anything more than a PS guy for 2025.

Luepke was a RB (not FB) weighing 230 coming out of NDSU, which is Mafah's listed weight. He's now at 238 apparently. They're both 6-1.

Confident that anything you ask Mafah to do, Luepke can. In fact, if we can forgive Luepke (finally) of one mishandle on the goalline, he's earned the right to see more substantial usage.

I'm with you. He'll make team as a practice player unless he shocks the world in practice and/or preseason.

Yeah I think Mike mccarthy put him in a doghouse too soon it is what it is. Like I said up there it's gonna be a great competition it's wide open it's the one position on the team besides defensive tackle that literally all depth chart from one through four is wide open for the taking it's gonna be a fun camp in preseason to watch these dudes are gonna be fighting hard to get on this team i'd love that kind of competition I mean it would be nice to have a rookie Ezekiel Elliott but we don't have that so we gotta let these guys fight it out....

That might be true but just because the guys 230 doesn't make him aggressive enough to really lay the fiberglass to somebody ezekiel it was that guy when he hit you in the chest you flew back he looked for contact that's why he was a great blocker that's what we need here is the mentality not just the body I haven't seen Lupeki run over anybody I mean he may have done some decent plays from here to there but we need a consistent guy that when he goes through the tackles and somebody tries to hit him that they're going backwards more than they're going forward you know Marion Barber that type of player ezekieli did do that his first 4 years in this league nobody wanted to get in front of him at the goal line especially but in short yardage do it crack your chest plate...

Again we need more than the body we need the mentality maybe this guy can do that maybe Hunter wins the job hell maybe someone like Sanders or Williams steps up to the plate that's the fun part of this offseason is running back I can't wait to watch them all going at it as hard as they can all preseason to show they want to be on this team....

I mean we see that in a guy like George Pickens right now so we need to find that type of short yard is running back the dirty yards we need to see that type of passion and physicality not just the body type it's a mentality..

Hunter makes his case...

He hasn't proven that he can go inside over and over when they know the plays coming short yardage first down I mean yeah he can make the case as a full back but you want to watch the 5000 scrimmage yards from Vaughn both from the backfield playing a real running back position in college and all the ballsy card on the backfield and special teams I mean do we want to make that case that he's been misused this whole time it might be the case the only reason Vaughn's not making this team is because Turpins keeping him on the bench turpin's got all that handled he may not be a running back but he does all the special team stuff he does all the gadget plays he runs stuff from the outside from the running back slot offset behind the line of scrimmage that's the only reason he hasn't made the case but if you're trying to show us college DV got everyone on this team right now beat, there isn't a single RB on this team that has a highlight reel from college and 5000 scrimmage yards to back it up..

If we're using professional highlights that doesn't Sanders get a free pass onto this team he was on a Super Bowl Eagles team was he not did he not have like 1400 yards with the Eagles I mean he had one great year??

Let's let them fight this year in this training camp with this team in this offense and they're going to have to make this team no highlights there is no bringing back college highlights or what you've done in the past they're going to earn your way out of this roster by what you do in camp and practice in scrimmages and preseason...

It will be fun to watch..

He will, we want to be a more physical running team. We did not draft Blue for that roll.
