Cowboys website lists last year’s 7th round pick as 6’-3” 346 lbs.

It bears mention that all of the good vibes about Toia right now were being felt this time last year about Rogers... maybe more. Arguably, Rogers being let go and ending up with the Bengals just before the 2024 season started was the biggest shocker of any of the roster decisions made.

Whether that means something good for DAL in 2025... or something bad, like we should tamp down our regard for how Toia will contribute... is way down the road from here, of course.

Seventh round picks are routinely less than ideally suited to become keepers. Let's try to keep any far-fetched hopes from 7th-rounders becoming anything more than that. If he somehow proves himself a suitable keeper, it should most likely be discovered by the coaching staff. We'll likely see about his chances when the time comes. Of course, there's nothing to forbid wishing him well.

we just can't think that every body that's 330+ is going to be good, or be a force in the NFL, Mazi Smith has killed all of those dreams. I now expect everyone this size to get reach blocked and pushed around!
Just because you think that doesn't mean we do.

Has nothing to do with Mazi.

Outside of QB, DT is the one position that could absolutely derail this season. They are taking a lot of risks on unproven guys who, frankly, were not considered great prospects. Eberflus is gonna earn his cash this year.

I'm actually very interested in where the QB situation lands this year. I think Dak is now 2015 Romo. I think Milton will get a lot of playing time.

how quickly can he get off the blocks. can he diagnose play and move laterally with it. can he penetrate. can he get off the blocks. there is lot that goes into being a good DT, than just weighing in at 340. if weight was primary reason for success, there are 1000s of players weighing in 320lbs or more.... this is not college any longer. everyone is big and strong.

people often underestimate how athletic these big men need to be and are.

Fully agree, but those 7th round DTs would be immediate studs if fans on this board would keep a more positive attitude. That’s what I often hear anyway.

It could potentially work out better if the FO didn’t continue to insist the position isn’t important, but hey it’s tough to argue with all that Jones football success.
