Broaddus on player agents sticking it to Jerry and Stephen

That’s a good point. Said he “didn’t need to be the highest paid” because that suited his narrative at the time, yet he isn’t signing what’s on the table…which Im sure is quite generous.

I have little doubt that when he does sign, he will be the highest non QB.

Similar to Dak, the agent knows there’s no way they are letting that player walk. They can still tag Parsons twice though, and while those figures aren’t cheap, they aren’t QB level….and they also can’t tag Pickens in that case. Tough to say who blinks first.
Teams dont want to upset the player bu-y using the tag..... too bad. I never understand why teams dont use the tag as leverage. Id be like... her you go Micah. We are offering you 5 years at 37 million per season. That comes to 185 million with whatever.... 50 million up front in cash.

You said you didnt need to be the highest paid, so put your signature where your mouth was. If not, we are tagging you. Thats it. Negotiation over.

They dont have a plan its plain as day.... anyone who enters a negotiation with no plan B is gonna lose...if you dont sign them your for sure worse because every single time they act like they are suprised its happening..get a plan B on the team THEN negotiate...then stick to your guns.

Its to easy for the agents as they know this FO has no plan B and WONT rebuild.

The alternative to overpaying players is to trade them.

Good teams are willing to trade away good players. Just look at all the draft picks Philly has in the upcoming draft.
Dallas is too scared of the unknown.

Dallas didn't have to make Dak the highest paid player in the NFL. They don't have to make Micah the highest paid defender in the NFL.

Let it get to the point where the players assume risk for performance and injury.

Then they’ll want to talk.

I think Stephen's frustration isn't just because he isn't getting to negotiate, it's because he disagrees with Jerry's strategy. I think Stephen wants to get the deals done earlier, but is taking the heat along with Jerry, when it should be all on Jerry. But stephen isn't about to throw Dad under the bus.

That would frustrate me if I was in his place.
Agents don’t take a discount for early anything.

$$$$

Rebuld... wont rebuild? Do you even pay attention? Or is getting rid of Dak the only rebuild that fits your definition? All different RBs, an almost entirely different Oline from 3 years ago, all new LBs. Been drafting DTs...... we were one of the youngest teams in the damn league

Wake up.

If you think this FO has gone all in attacking the cap for a trophy knowing they would rebuild for 2 years im not the one who needs to wake up...The Eagles have in fact torn down a team and rebuilt TWICE in the last 10 years, you think the Cowboys have done the same?

No thats stupid
You trade them
Trade Parsons
The pros of doing that for multiple picks ( with so many defense deficiencies)as well as salary cap savings, speaks for itself, not to mention him going AWOL in Dec and Jan........but I bet if he was on the Eagles, Old Howie would find a way to keep him AND manipulate the cap.

The Browns who have an anemic offense and declining defense should have dealt Myles Garret for a BOATLOAD of picks....but hes as big an idiot as Jones is. Just ask Deshaun Watson

oh the Iggles... the model for how its done. I guess the Iggles got it all figured out, and the other 30 teams besides the chiefs and their amazing coach and gm are all just fighting for scraps.

what does that have to do with the fact this Cwoboys FO doesnt go all in because they dont want to have rebuild seasons?

Regardless the actual contract details, JJ and SJ are there own worst enemies. They are constantly discussing players and their contracts with the media. Quite literally, they negotiate with themselves.

I understand that in speaking to the press, JJ creates attention for the Cowboys and that is not always a bad thing... but, geez, stop the blathering
Unfortunately by doing this the salary cap does not go up for the Cowboys.

jerry and stephen don't really care. there is a salary cap. we are 29th in dead cap. we are 16th in cash spent (mostly because of CD and Dak), and prior we were in the low 20s. we are closer to the cap floor than cap ceiling and we were 16th in void year money....what does this all mean? there is controls in place for spending and cash out. Jerry and Stephen don't mind, in fact love it. now who gets the money? does it matter to them? somewhat... they pay players that sell Jersey's because it has an ROI, given Cowboys are the only team that collect money for all the Jersey's they sell and its not part of the shared revenue. so agents sticking it to cowboys? of course for their players. usually top of the market players. and neither of the joneses care. they manage year to year.

they also don't like to pay for the same position twice...essentially never cutting or letting anyone go until the end of the contract so they don't have to replace the player and pay again, since they already paid a bunch of bonuses that counts against the cap. it doesn't matter the player, 90% of the time they are here to the end. perhaps some getting one year contracts. that's why we are so low in dead cap money. its inevitable, but its being managed by the joneses.

They market and sell the team year to year. I predicted middle of last season that given what had happened look for Jerry to have a semi-active off season to "generate hope", "show the fans". I said he will make one big name signing to make a splash. and like clock work. Jerry does that every time we have a down year. and brings fans back. then he just manages the roster and milks it. they rely on draft and when you have two bad drafts in a row, then we get 2024.

so this year he filled the roster. with low end FAs. resigned our own, since he likes to do that. and got one big name player. and just look at the excitement on this board. people are just soooooooooo giddy!.
I don't believe the team is being sold. I think the Jones' are relying on an aging fan base, that is exhausted with their lack of Leadership.

The Cowboys have benefited from starting Thanksgiving games. That took place before GM Jethro.

As a kid I grew up in Northern California and became a local A's fan. However, I also became a Braves fan because they were on TBS all the time. If they were not constantly on TV, I would not have become a Braves fan. This is very similar for how a lot of people became Cowboys fans.
