Saw the Cowboys/Packers Dez non catch game on NFL network

Why would I need someone else’s opinion on the matter? I made the argument myself which is what people are tasked to do in higher education. Maybe you’ve never received one <shrug>. ‍I’m not here to satisfy your requests for approval as if you’re a teacher giving me a grade.

It’s also called argument from authority. Logical fallacies can have multiple names just like different words can have the same meaning.

It’s “cool” that you know another name. It’s unfortunate that you couldn’t see that you were repeatedly requesting me to indulge in it.
Appreciate the DIVERSION and all but your answer would be no then, right?

The call was right according to both spirit and letter. But you'd need to actually know the rule to see how but your forte is just to fanboi over some past scorching I can't even remember (that's also why you're my favorite, lol).
the spirit of the rule is to make sure it is a catch

show me a WR anywhere that says that was not a catch

even the NFL in the end agreed it should have been a catch

I notice you always leave that bit of TRUTH out

but you cannot get over your lust for officiating

I don't rewatch games like that but I can remember just about everything from memory that was important you're right the fumble was huge the two missed field goals were huge the mistakes once again not be able to make a stop against Aaron Rodgers was huge because it happened again to Prescott in 2016 but this has always been about more than just the quarterbacks people around here just forget all these plays that wasn't even the Dez no catch it should have never came down to one bad call or non call that fumble those two miss field goals that were huge in the game they were very big and yes defense once again yeah it's always more to it than what people remember people remember the interceptions or a misthrope or a big moment like that with the reverse call but in my opinion it was those other things that lost us the game..

That's why whenever people talk about the romo hold fumble Seattle game.. I know that that moment will be forever ingrained in people's minds and how bad that ball looked like ahead WD40 on it we had a guy holding the football that was all sweaty that shouldn't have in my opinion I don't know why he had quarterbacks holding the football but we were in a big moment he had to hurry up had his arm sweaty ball oiled up look should have never came down of that you know why because the plate before was a first down i've never seen Jason Witten so angry he almost turned purple yelling he was already a red person but he was turning purple..

How they looked at that play and didn't call that a first down II call that a curse that's being snake bitten if that's first in goal at the 1 yard line we're not talking about this play any more.. But again we can come back and wonder if we had scored a touchdown, there does our deep ends let us down once again?

Yes I remember these plays I don't want to drag this on but even to Green Bay loss in 2023 it was not the interceptions that killed that game it was the defense it was other factors like a lack of a run game that has been the biggest factor lately and recent losses into playoffs as not being physical in the trenches can't stop the run can't run the football but the two interceptions I've looked at them at least three times they were not on the quarterback they literally one was should have been past interference on cooks he got pulled on twice no call he got leverage and that's why he picked the ball off there was nothing happening anyway they're trying to make plays and then Sadie Lamb was supposed to continue his crosser he doesn't he goes off script thought he was covered too well and he decided to do his own thing and cut the ball upfield and then the ball was already being thrown into quarterback has his mind made up you're gonna blame him for these interceptions and the defense was absolutely horrid the run game was horrid the trenches were horrid the San Francisco game with the 11 penalties on just the offensive line and then we back to the rest again with not getting the ball lined up and going to blame Prescott for not stopping the clock but there was too much in some of those games my head wants to explode when I think about it.

I hate Stephen A Smith but it seems like he's right in the biggest games whatever can go wrong does go wrong we are snake bitten and that's all there is to it I mean just imagine if going back to Demarco Marion he busts through that hole and scores a touchdown or makes it to the 5 yard line this is a whole different game but how does Dan Bailey miss field goals at that time he was probably the best field goal kicker in the league?.
Good teams will expose your weaknesses. A team like the 49ers beats you up and if you cannot match their physicality it’s over

The officials did make sure. Replay evidence confirmed it wasn't a catch. They've got spirit, how 'bout you?

What WR would say that an athletic play a WR made wasn't a catch?

The NFL changed the rule so that it would be a catch in the future (not that it was then) but that wasn't until years later.

Tell me what TRUTH I'm leaving out. And why are you so mad? Lol.

I wouldn't say it's over but it definitely makes it hard to overcome no matter how hard you try to claw your way back into a game they'll just find a way to shut you back down or have one of those long drives that eat up 9 minutes and it doesn't look like much but all of a sudden you look up you like the Rams hid to us in the 2018 second round of the playoffs they literally just played keep away with the ball didn't allow our offense to get going and even though it was a close game it never really felt like it..

That has to change for sure... But I'll have to remind people and I hate to do this but we've had the Demarco Murray types we've had years where our run game was absolutely dominant ezekiel Elliott from 2016 through 2019 was one of the best backs in the league we had pretty good offensive lines but somehow we still couldn't win in the playoffs it seemed like they were still able to be shut down or made to be not balanced and that came from the defense it's always something people act like we've never had a great wide receiver duo or a great run game or a good offensive line we've actually had all those and we may have had highly ranked defenses but our physicality has been lacking in the trenches mostly on defense we've seen and had a taste of having a great offensive line and a great run game but then we couldn't stop the run on the other side we couldn't shut down teams when they need to be shut down.

It's like Dan Quinn's defenses everybody was thinking we should make him the head coach and you know what looking at Washington it seems like that was a mistake letting him go but I don't agree what I saw from his team in that NFC championship game what I saw from his run defense mostly throughout the year looked the same they got lucky in a few games to win but I don't care how highly you're ranked because the rankings can be deceiving because where we were building up a lot of turnovers and sacks it wasn't happening against a better teams with the big physical offensive lines and a way to run the game against us this has been one of the most frustrating parts of this is we've had a lot of things just never at the same time.....

A lot of the Commanders issues were hidden due to their qb’s mobility to extend drives. They were actually worse then the cowboys stopping the run last season

The interpretation that it was not a catch can’t be right according to the “spirit of the rule” (nor the “spirit of the game”) as the one who will not be named claims, because the rule was changed post facto since for what it was supposed to determine and what the vast majority of everyone saw was—a valid catch. That was the entire point of creating the rule due to a particular instance of the a controversial catch by Calvin Johnson in the end zone which wasn’t even remotely similar to Dez’s. The language of the rule had to be interpreted to overturn the catch, and one that would have stood as one prior to and after its change for the vast majority of the existence of the game.

Right, I just want to make sure because I heard a lot of grumblings about Jerry making a mistake by not replacing Mike McCarthy with Dan Quinn and yes on paper if you just keep it on the surface it appeared that way because you had your old coach bunch of your old players some of your old coaching staff playing in the NFC Championship game,

but what I saw is the Green Bay game I mean they ended the season a lot like his last game here..

It's making sure people aren't being delusional here, look at how they played us they played our backups, philly dominated us that's what good teams are supposed to do to a team that is full of backups,

they lost to us the first game and had to pull Daniels and have Marcus Mariota save them from a loss they almost got swept by the Cowboys backups..

in my opinion they are way overrated being picked number two in this division over us a healthy Cowboys team, which in my opinion might still be the number two team in this division.

I think there's going to be a sophomore slump with the Washington team, I can be wrong, i'm not an expert but what I saw last year was a lot of luck a lot of bounces you know like Noah Brown catching that Hail Mary in a way where everyone didn't even look like they wanted to play defense I mean it's almost like they thought there's no way is happening so they stood around and watched I think somebody got benched or cut off the team for that I can't remember....

If the cowboys had even a mediocre defensive line they probably win that game.

That was one of the worst defensive lines in the league. It was always a death sentence for that team once they played an elite QB in the playoffs.

They tried selling us on the “we will win by controlling the clock” a fools errand.

I agree, not sold on a repeat this year.

You can name me outright. I mean, these 10 letters do strike fear into some but it's just words, I promise, lol.

But your spiel here clearly shows that you categorically do not understand the rules at hand or their history. Yet you want to pretend you know what should have been ruled? Stop this fraud. I literally laid out the mechanics of the rule in this very thread but you don't want to learn, you only want what you need to be true. It ain't. And you weren't robbed in its denial either.

Dallas fans(like myself, living in denial), like to use the Dez play as a reason we lost the game. The defense, or lack there of, was the reason we lost.
This however, was not the perspective I had back then.
I always felt that way.
We could not stop Rodgers to save our lives.

LOL clown. Look up what the “spirit of a rule” means. Another term you don’t understand.

It's not why we lost the game ,but it's why they allowed the Packers right back in the game and it was a completely different game after that

that would have been soul crushing had he got close to the goal line or scored instead of fumbling and losing the ball...

I mean that is a big momentum killer, but we also missed two field goals and we had that questionable call at the end there was a lot of little things but I'm pretty sure we lost the game because once again our defense can't stop Aaron Rodgers.... 2014& 2016 kind of gets old that we ended our two very promising seasons very similarly with Aaron Rodgers.ughh

So yes, that would be more to the defense lost us anther playoff game, but yeah, the fumble didn't help....

I blame Dez for not securing that pass and going down to the ground. Instead he wanted to switch the ball in his other hand and stretch to the goal line and leave doubt to have to review the play.

That would've gave the Cowboys first and goal with the opportunity to run out more clock.

Dez playing hero ball cost them dearly.

There are just some teams assembled that dont have everything needed to bring home a Lombardi or even get to a SB

We are seeing it in real time with the Bills and Ravens. Two top 5 Qbs with good supporting casts and coaches but there always seem to be a way they lose the biggest games.
You know what I chalk that up to? Crap happens. It's not like running a marathon in a certain time, you either do it or not. That's totally under your control. Winning a SB isn't. Someone else is there trying to stop you. Only one can win. I think a lot of these teams are good enough to win, but only one each year gets the crown.
