I forgot just how incredibly good Dez was

His antics, lack of preparation and an "always something with this guy" air about him are the first things that come into my mind before I "remember" his athleticism.

I do remember many times thinking, boy Dez is stupid. Like when Roy Williams and co. got him a huge bill hazing him. And then something with an entourage at a mall and wasting money.

Dez Bryant:

Pros - Amazing body control. Especially in the air.

Violent hands. Posters refer to him as having great hands. I don't agree. DeAndre Hopkins has great hands. Possibly the best the league has ever seen. Bryant has some of the most violent hands of his peers. He would literally snatch and rip the ball out of the air. That was why he was so great on the jump and the slants.

Cons - He got injured and it lead to his wheels eroding. He couldn't move his feet fast enough to create space. There is a significant difference between him and someone like Amari Cooper getting off the line. He can't beat coverage or subtlely influence corners into "wrong footing" themselves.

HIs background. He came from a bad situation and you could clearly see he had and still has maturity issues. You can't take the bad upbringing out of this guy. So it always looked like he was up to something or there was always something with him. It was a maturity thing. Million dollar body and a ten cent head.

*Chris Carter actually has the best hands ever though.

Incredibly physically talented, but relied too much on athleticism and didn't focus enough on route running and could lose concentration on the more routine passes.

After watching some Dez film I forgot just how incredibly good he was. I think he is arguably as good as anyone who ever played the position for the cowboys.
Thoughts?
Another great JJ draft pick who refused to learn how to enhance his routes, even with Michael's help!
