Are you buying or selling the 2025 Dallas Cowboys as a quality football team

The 2025 Dallas Cowboys will be a quality football team

Acquiring Pickens was a beautiful thing but its not enough. The majority of aquisitions won't move the needle based on what those players have shown in the NFL......the rookies are an unknown.
I think several of these guys whom I think you're referring to might be better around other teammates and a new system.. Elam, for example, will likely be better in Dallas than in Buffalo.

For the purposes of this thread/poll: The definition of a "quality football team " is a legitimate playoff team, with a reasonable expectation to contend
It won't matter how many times Schotty takes the team out dancing or how many ping pong tournaments they have, this team will be lucky just to make the playoffs. They certainly won't be contending.

Thats an unanswerable question

What is “a quality football team”

This team might crash and burn or make the playoffs if it gets lucky but it has no shot at a SB

My definition of quality is true SB contender and we are not

I voted "sell" but truth is I am just waiting to see. At this point I fear they have a lot of personnel issues. But who knows. If things align just right they could be good....even very good. They do have strengths. But as of right now I fear they have too many question marks at too many positions.

I gave a definition to use in the OP lol
For the purposes of this thread/poll: The definition of a "quality football team " is a legitimate playoff team, with a reasonable expectation to contend

That is about as generic as an average team

“reasonable expectation to contend”

Say “legitimate SB contender” and you will get a resounding No

I absolutely welcome any fellow forum member that wants to make their case that we will be a contender this season.

Aside from the Pickens aquisition there are just way too many questions marks to project a playoff birth. If we assume that Elam and Sanborn aquistions will be solid, I can buy that but there are far too many ifs and maybes with the rest of the former busts and rookies.

Please consider this next part;

Perhaps the better thread question should have been " Will we be a better team this Season", ......because to answer the current thread one has to take into account the offseason aquisitions the OTHER teams have made becausr the Eagles and Skins haven't stood pat.

I could get on board that this team itself will field a better roster than last season with a few of the aquisitions but unless the rookies ball out and the former busts suddenly elevate here, I fear a playoff appearances is not plausible

Which Dak Prescott is showing up? the 2016 model or the 2024 model.
I honestly think if he had finished the season last year, his stats would have been by far worse than they were, he would have led the league in interceptions easily.

I think we'll have a stout defense and hopefully Schottenheimer is at the least a good play caller.

I actually believe if the wheels start to come off. This may be another Jerry working the sidelines, season.
Oh boy, I can't wait.

Am I expecting to even make the playoffs? Unless a lot of other teams do horribly. No.
This. There is no logical or predictable path to the playoffs this year. If they were to make it, it would seem to require unprecedented good fortune for us & bad for others.

I do think there is a very real chance they are a better football team than last year and still have no better record or at least not a winning record.

I used to allow myself a degree of hope or excitement each year. No playoff success for decades now.

Then the Dak extension without any idea of how he'd move post injury... Then SF1 embarrassment, nothing changed ... Then SF2 embarrassment, nothing changed... Then GB happened, inexplicably nothing changed... Then it looked like we might be moving on from Dak, signed him to the highest deal ever for real reason... Then one the league's worst red zone teams last year, they try to resign the play caller, MM... Then they make the journeyman offensive coordinator who's never won anything or excited anyone the new HC...

I'm done with hope. I'm done expecting anything positive. I'll start buying back in .. a little.. when we win 2 playoff games in a row or hire an actual GM to actually be in the GM role, fully.

I'll watch it all and check this site 5-10 times a day, even in the dregs of the off-season because, well, I guess I'm addict/glutton for punishment, but I'm done believing until the team shows me or the FO shows me otherwise.
.....so you"re saying there's a chance?

Eeveryone around them is getting better why they are starting to decline at QB.
They have a bunch of jags at LB and DT.
With this schedule I can find 5 wins. If they have good year maybe 7 wins.

The current version of the Dallas Cowboys is saturated with questionable circumstances. Between the new coaches who are somewhat unfamiliar with the players, some of the players, themselves, are questionable as to their health circumstances. Several of our players are new to the team, itself.

This team, as a whole, might be better than last year, but that's actually not saying much. I'm feeling fairly confident that this team still lacks the level of quality that is needed to win their division.

There are too many lingering questions to be answered, as things now stand. Maybe next year they'll be better if that offseason is equally as successful as this one was. We're getting closer.
