No, but he got better. If Mazi was a 4th rounder even a 3rd, people would talk a about him as a developing player we hope can develop more.

This is true but as mentioned above, it's encouraging that he finished he season 24th/219 run stops among DI's. But I agree, his bar was so low, he still has a ways to go.

That’s what I’ve always had rounded figuring out. The guy is an athletic freak but doesn’t translate to the field. He’s so slow off the snap he’s always in the hole right away. With his athleticism you’d think he would be a bit quicker off the snap

I mean, a lot of our fans wouldn't notice much either way. Not many go back to verify what they're saying. They're just saying it because someone else said it.

Quincy wasn't a bust until he started smoking friggin crack, which he says was MJ.

He actually got a pretty marginal team into the playoffs. He just got cracked out and BP couldn't trust him. So along came Romo, who pretty much nobody saw coming. Even when he arrived, there were still mostly doubters.

But back to Mazi. You watch his college tape and he was always going to be a project. Much like Guyton.

I totally agree. If he was a later pick he would be judged differently. To me he never was a first rnd pick but if he can improve again this year he can play in this league. If he can just get quicker off the snap he could probably be a solid player

That's right. I just think that, as well as his lack of balance, will keep him from ever being a first round talent. In spite of his flaws, he can be decent to solid, which is what we need from him. We need him to take a step in the run game.

If he makes as much improvement this year as last year over his rookie year he can help this team. He may never live up to a first rnd pick but he might be a decent player
