I’ve never heard anyone slander Jimmy. I’m sure there’s been 1 or 2 but I didn’t see it. I don’t see any Jerry slobberers either. No one thinks he’s a good at what he does. So not sure where you’re coming from other than you’re hallucinating thinking of some reason to diss anyone but a hater like yourself.Jerry slobberers and Jimmy slanderers in 3....2.....1
To be fair Jones did hire Jimmy so at minimum we have to give him credit for finding 1 great coach. If Jones didn't buy the team and bring in Jimmy are the Cowboys still the team of the 90s. What do the next couple decades look like, etc.Jimmy Johnson didn't eliminate the owner. Or his kids.
Johnson was one of the two best head coaches any franchise could have ever had. Unfortunately, no one is perfect. Some tasks are simply beyond the capabilities of mortals.
I’ve never seen either in my life lol…..you literally wouldn’t have Jimmy if it wasn’t for Jerry and Jerry wouldn’t have 3 rings if it wasn’t for Jimmy…everyone should be slobbering both lol.Jerry slobberers and Jimmy slanderers in 3....2.....1
That’s where Jerry deserves a lot of credit, bringing in Jimmy and allowing him to run the football side of things. He allowed him to be the unofficial GM. I argued with a fan a couple of years ago who claimed he would give up all three of the Cowboys Super Bowl wins in the 90s just to get rid of Jerry. As much as some fans hate Jerry, no one could be that ridiculous. It certainly hasn’t been very good the last 30 years but those early to mid 90s were as good as it gets. Never thought I would witness anything like that with the Cowboys, especially when they hit rock bottom in 88 and 89.To be fair Jones did hire Jimmy so at minimum we have to give him credit for finding 1 great coach. I can’t help but chuckle at how this would have gone if it were Schottenheimer saying this when he was hired1. Eliminated the bad people 2. Brought in good people. 3. Created an environment to thrive.
There’s a handful of coaches that were great to that level…..Johnson, Walsh, Parcells, Belicheck, maybe Noll and Mike Shanahan (the way Shannon Sharpe describes his coaching style, sounds a lot like Jimmy Johnson with the discipline and structure and NEVER being complacement). Jimmy definitely near the top….just checks all the boxes and gets the very best out of his players.Jimmy Johnson didn't eliminate the owner. Or his kids.

The roster certainly wasn’t staggering when he arrived. Once he cleaned house and traded Herschel Walker, that was one of the top 10 worst teams of all time. It looked pretty much hopeless after the 89 season. I didn’t expect the team to go 1-15 after being 3-13 the previous season. Practically everyone was questioning Jimmy and Jerry after that first season. I still can’t believe that three years later the Cowboys were hoisting the Lombardi trophy. That seemed impossible after the 89 season.Jimmy was a great coach, but the talent on that roster was staggering. I don't buy the touchy/feely garbage. His teams had players. Good coaching + good players = wins.
