Breece Hall to the Cowboys: Trade Scenario, Stats, and 2025 Impact
by Cody Warren
Jun 18, 2025

The Dallas Cowboys have retooled their backfield for 2025, but could a bold move for New York Jets star Breece Hall elevate them into Championship territory?

With a running backs room consisting of Javonte Williams, Miles Sanders, rookie Jaydon Blue, rookie Phil Mafeh, Deuce Vaughn, and fullback Hunter Luepke, the room is deep but lacks a clear elite workhorse.

Acquiring Hall could give the Cowboys a dynamic, every-down back who fits the offensive vision of new head coach Brian Schottenheimer and offensive coordinator Klayton Adams.

Trade Compensation: What It Would Take
If the Jets decide to move Hall, a deal could look like:
  • Conditional 2026 4th-round pick (escalating to a 3rd if Hall hits 1,200 total yards)
  • Possibly a young player in a logjam position
This would give the Jets future flexibility and the Cowboys a legitimate RB1 to complement their evolving offense.

I'd rather trade for a run stuffing DT.

I think they shut the door on this. This was a trade they were negotiating pre draft, but when it got brought up after the Pickens trade, apparently they said they weren't looking at anymore

Breaking news: No rumors!!! Let's see what the guys we have can do already, I just don't get what the OP is doing!!

Yeah, I think drafting two backs on the third day killed the interest for now. I think they want to see what those backs look like first. I think the Jets may want to see how Braelon Allen and Isaiah Adams look in the preseason first as well.

A 4th is a little steep for a one year rental. Pickens cost a 3rd, and he's probably twice as valuable of a player in terms of contract dollars. And a 4th rounder can get you a pretty decent RB in the draft with 4 cheap seasons.

And escalating to a 3rd for 1,200 scrimmage yards, no way. Rico had 1,300 last season. If Hall stays healthy, he's getting there.

Honestly, our lives would be so much easier if we just matched the Panthers contract for Rico.

There has been nothing new on this topic since the draft. A NY Jets writer wrote a blurb about how Hall could be trade bait at the trade deadline this coming year after the Jets drafted at RB

Then, all the other content scavengers at SI, motorcycle sports and Athlon started churning out AI regurgitated schlock.

Chargers, Chiefs and now Cowboys all have “articles”.

Local fan sites can’t miss out on the action, so you see articles like this.

It’s the off season and they’ve got bills to pay.

exactly bro!!!! these bloggers have more time on their hands than they know what to do with. What a watered down mess sports coverage has become.

Can’t keep gutting draft capital for one yr rentals.
Normally I would agree, but the clock is ticking with Dak. 2, maybe 3 more good years left (being optimistic) and we are looking at a rebuild. If there is a player out there that could provide a significant upgrade, I'm not opposed to trading draft picks if the asking price isn't absurd.

Would be a huge impact that affects offense and defense. Would still want a legit DT and MLB to shore up the defense.

I like how the OP listed all the bums we have on our RB depth chart, and called it "deep"

A deep stinking pile of "horse mud" maybe. Duece Vaughn. LMAO!!!!!!!
