Lakers sold for $10B - How much could the Cowboys sell for?

Cowboys must be worth double that which makes our next ownership situation dicey. Not many people can afford to pay 20B. Basically, we are looking at Elon Musk or some kind of Middle East oil money.
Musk is one of the few people I’d rather the Jones not sell to.

Jerry will never give up the gravitas that comes with owning an NFL franchise; From owning the Dallas Cowboys.

He doesn’t want to be just some billionaire.
But he won’t live forever. Maybe the kids just want to cash in.. wishful thinking perhaps.

Cuban sold the Mavs. The Buss family sold the Lakers. Other franchises are up for sale. Ratings are WAY down. Salaries are skyrocketing.

The NBA is in a bad way, and the smart owners know it.
I see conflicting reports.

Obviously the united states is going through things with 'cutting the cord' and the economy...

But, as of a few years ago, NBA was growing big in Asian countries.

Pretty wild looking at the top 10 net worths these days.

Some, like Bezos has been rumored at buying a team at some point. Not sure about Zuck or Elon have any want to do so. Nor would I want either, too.

Would assume Jerry will die as owner, but curious to see how his family sees the team. Sure they are loaded now, but that potential sale would make everyone billionaires liquid wise. Pretty sure Jeanie lost a power struggle among all 4-5 siblings and 10bil was hard to turn down.
I honestly think the Jones will sell soon after Jerry is gone unless there is a stipulation in the will

It doesn’t matter. Anyone could be an upgrade if they aren’t planning on being a “ football guy”.

And there’s ample zillionaires out there.
You want them to be a football guy you just don’t want them to inter fear micromanage

With price tags so high, we’d have to hope for a consortium ownership. Otherwise, a single owner would likely have the same aspirations as Jerry — marketing and profits over product on the field.

Yeah, just someone that we might not want you better off with the devil you know sometimes
Ehh I don’t know…..that was the argument used for why we should keep Garrett….id rather see what someone else can do what’s the worst that can happen?

I get it...the kids aren't entitled to anything and it's not going you kill them...

But Jerry has picked those two young Jones's to be on camera constantly. One of them follows Jerry, Stephen, McClay into the locker room after games...as if to suggest the kid is part of the inner inner circle...

Seems kinda cruel to sell the Cowboys if those kids think they are taking the reigns one day.(grandkids)

I dont see a dispute amongst the siblings taking place that would lead to a sale like what us being claimed in the Lakers sale. Stephen, Charlotte and Jerry Jr have been working for the Cowboys for years.

That doesn't amount to much revenue. It's dying in America in terms of viewership.

There is a growing theory that is gaining traction that the league basically forced Dallas to trade Luka to the Lakers with the promise of the No. 1 pick guaranteed to Dallas. It makes total sense. Nico dutifully took the fall for everybody.

With an aging LeBron, that franchise was soon to be gawd awful, and the Lakers are the only team to consistently draw ratings, along with aging Golden State. NBA games are getting PBS ratings nationally, and even locally, many franchises are experiencing dropping viewership.

Combine that with the fact that the top players in the league are predominantly non-American players thanks to AAU and the sharp decline of college basketball. Jokic, Luka, Giannis, Wemby, Gilgeous-Alexander, Sabonis, Siakam...it's not an American-dominated game anymore.

after Jerry if Jones family wants to sell then can easily get 30 billion,it's the most popular franchise and the most profitable franchise in the world.
I don't think so. Clubs such as Liverpool, Real Madrid or even Bayern Munich are more popular world wide. The reason why the Cowboys are the most valuable franchise is because they operate in the richest market in the world in one of the richest sports league in the probably most inflated real estate market too. But if You asked every person on the planet what club he or she knows, the Cowboys wouldn't even be in the top ten (yes, just imo).

I think that’s what he’s referencing though. Financially. Real Madrid is not selling for 10 plus billion.

Jerry isn’t selling and honestly most owners now a days won’t either

Snyder would’ve NEVER sold the Washington team he was just forced to

I don’t even want Jerry to sell, I want him to drop the GM title and move to strictly the corporate side and I want Stephen to do the same

Hire football people to run the football side

That would be the best bet because I don't think people realize the grass isn't greener on the other side always be careful what you wish for, that old adage.

Because we could get some owner in here that just decides he doesn't care about loyalty history and justice doesn't see a reason to stay in Dallas Fort Worth maybe moves to San Antonio, Austin, or Oklahoma or worse out of Texas and just sends it somewhere he is from.

Things for sure could get worse I mean look at the new ownership group with the Mavs I mean they made a bad move he can blame the GM all you want this was an owner pushed item to get rid of Luca and there are signs that who knows when they can move the Mavericks to Las Vegas if they don't get everything they want here they wanted to have a big new stadium only for the Mavericks and they wanted to also include gambling with it so it would be a huge facility that you could do shopping gambling drinking partying and boom the stadiums also there..

there's too many people around here that are in hurry to push Jerry out and I think the fact that he loves Texas he loves Dallas and he loves this team he's not gonna move it that's a fact but there is no guarantees that somebody buys his team it stays here or it could just get worse with the new ownership they could truly be cheap and end up not wanting to spend much money at all on even your own free agents and make this team some true loser because it could get worse than what we've seen here....

There are too many games that mean nothing. Literally, the first full one half of the season in basketball is teams experimenting with lineups. They have a chart of games they should win to stay relevant until the second half of the season.

Viewers get bored with games meaning nothing.

Football is the ultimate sport... strategy, violence, highlights, every game matters...but parents are turning their kids away from it due to injuries. Basketball you can play in cold states indoors, football you really can't. It's hard to get a group on 12 years old to play football in below freezing weather. Risk if injury is less. All you need is a basketball and hoop and shorts and tennis shoes.

I would assume football would die sooner due to the barriers of entry to participate.

Football has an edge on viewers due to how good the game is and how most games matter. But I don't think other countries will pick it up like basketball, golf.

I see soccer, golf getting big in America while sports that require god given measurements for dying(basketball. Football.)

I don't want to talk something into existence....I absolutely love football. Just seems like attention is swinging to other things these days

No one in their right mind is going to relocate the most profitable franchise in sports, that should be the absolute least of anyone's worries. Worst case scenario that does happen there would be another team moving to Dallas overnight. Dallas is a top 5 market in US sports. There is no where near the risk of losing a team like there would be in a Cincinnati or Jacksonville.

Also every franchise is required to spend at least 90% of the cap over a 3-4 year period per the most recent CBA. Finding a new owner that spends less than our current one isn't very likely at all. Getting Jerry to not be so cash driven is one of the biggest knocks on him these days. It's actually very likely that a new ownership group would bring deeper pockets than what Jerry currently has.
