I was at the scrimmage yesterday AMA. did Joe Milton not get more reps?

Went to the scrimmage yesterday and even though it's training camp, I am worried...
We could not run the ball at all or stop the run.
Joe Milton out played Dak by a lot and then they stopped giving him reps. Hate to say it but I feel like they stopped putting Milton in because he looked so much better than Dak.
After the first few series it was only Dak and Grier. Why would we not want to give Milton a ton more reps as he is new to the team?
 
I think he hurt his thumb so they pulled him out since he has to play a lot in the first preseason game.

Schottenheimer said he could have played if they needed him to but they were being cautious since they need him more for the preaseason games.

Milton was held out because he hit his throwing hand on a helmet.

Did Milton really look that much better? That is a reach saying they pulled him because he was better than Dak.
I doubt it. Maybe just wishful thinking.

Milton did not get that many reps in from what I seen from clips or read.
I know you said you were there. But from some of the clips I seen, Dak was not horrible.
 
Its early yet. Lets see what happens when we have the full complement of starters in after more practices. Much can change, often does. Can't tell much from a scrimmage at half speed.

He got signed and Schottenheimer said he wants to make sure he’s good go for a good run in the first preseason game

Milton outplaying Dak is not surprising at all.

That’s like saying Aubrey out kicked Lieutenant Dan.

Only way to know if he can outplay Dak is,

#1 The coaches need to be able to evaluate w/o money/contract being an issue
#2 They would need to give him the same opportunity that Dak has with the 1st team
#3 Probably the only way that happens is if Daks starts to struggle ( however, even if he does it's very unlikely Milton would still get a shot due to Dak's contract). The other more probable cause is if Dak gets hurt (IE like last season)

OMG. the conspiracy theorists are at work.

well, others reported Dak did good and milton was average. but your eye tests is better than everybody else...

Milton hurt his finger by the way.... so stop it @MountaineerCowboy . your ghost account approach to creating more Dak controversy so you can post dak hate is childish.
I checked IP addresses and they both point to you.....

From what I’ve seen reported, Dak played well. Everything Milton does good will get blown up by some. One nice play and all of a sudden he outplayed Dak. :rolleyes:

With no game planning. Basically sand lot football, line up and play. But with a bit of some structure. At least they have plays from a book to call (or tablet now days).
And not like Witten and Romo, where they draw them up in the dirt ... err ...ground up rubber in fake grass. :laugh:

I also am not sure Milton would have looked much better...but I wasn't there so...

Having said that...i have a little suspicion on this matter. Nothing solid...but when Romo came in and drove the team right down the field...Jerry pulled him. When Dak went down last year they put "Noodle arm" in (remember everyone making fun of him?)...instead of the young hot shot.

And they have never actively and intelligently pursued Dak's replacement, even though he's starting to pack on some years. Let alone serious competition at the position.

So I dunno. Other teams seem able to blast through QB's...but we? "like our guys".
