When we drafted Parsons, I was overjoyed. I loved the pick and for a while there I thought we should build around the guy!! I thought he was a true Cowboy. A true Cowboy!! I can’t stand what Parsons has become. He’s become a disappointment and I hate the guy. Jerry Jones needs to trade this man NOW. He’s a toxic me me me first kind of guy and if I was younger, I’d give an uppercut!!!

He has all the talent and that’s why this hurts so much. I thought he would become a legend of this franchise. I thought his talk of taking a team friendly deal might have been true. You know what? I can’t believe I’m saying this but Jerry Jones is the victim in this situation. Parsons is entitled and it’s showing!

You are wrong. And if you gave Micah an upper cut, he would duck and knock you out with just a glancing blow. He is a generational talent and needs to get paid. I am hoping he gets traded, not for the team, but for him. He needs to go to a real team, not a circus joke, which is what the Joneses have turned this franchise into. Bill Barnwell put out this very interesting stat, well at least I find in interesting: since Micah entered the NFL the Cowboys have the best defense in the NFL by EPA when he is on the field. Whenever Micah is not on the field, the Cowboys have the second worst D in the NFL by EPA.

Yet Dak is the highest paid quarterback in NFL history, and has never delivered when it was on him to be the reason the Cowboys were better.
Parsons knows that his career will likely be wasted as long as Dak is the quarterback, so he wants to at least get paid while he can.
But Parsons will not make the difference in the Cowboys championship hopes. Letting him walk will not kill the Cowboys.
They will not see a championship because Dak Prescott is their quarterback.

If his verbal agreement is worthless, Micah has a signed contract for this year, How about he honors that and gets on the field.

Players are allowed to negotiate contracts after their 3rd year. He's in his 5th year.
If he sits out games that will suck, but he won't be paid either.

Parsons is an elite passrusher. And with elite passrushers they get a certain 2nd and/or 3rd contract.
I get it from a fan perspective that it sucks he isn't practicing under a new DC. I also get it from Parsons if he blows his ACL/Achilles he potentially misses out on 10's or 100's of millions of money. The teams make money like they are the US Treasury.
The Cowboys are 32mil under the cap right now, and that's with Parsons at a 24mil cap hit, something that would be reduced with an extension. So, it's not like the Cowboys went all in, are tight on cap, and just can't pay him and fit under the cap.

I will always side with the players because i cant stand the Jones's. If we could get a bunch of picks for Micah Id be on board with it because outside of a pass rush that disappears in January he is just league average. Nothing there prohibits a team talking directly with a player.

Micah (or any player) is neither an agent or a representative.

I don't know what went on. But Parsons should have made it clear that all negotiations go through his agent. Don't make any handshake deals you won't keep. Is the difference between 35M and 40M worth the trouble? It's not altering your life.

Now if Jerry filled him up with the tasty Johnny Walker Blue to where he had a handshake deal of 5 years 20 million, with a 500k bonus, yeah, I too wouldn't blame him for backing out of that.

It's not Micah's fault. It's not Jerry's fault. It's the NFLPA's fault. The union should be negotiating these contracts. A player who hits certain benchmarks (years, stats, whatever) gets X dollars. Players shouldn't be having to negotiate their deals out of a finite pie. This system favors the superstar player and kills the rank and file player who makes up a majority of the league. The union needs to represent everyone equally and it is not.

The whole point(s) of a UNION...is to make things safe and fair for ALL members.

That says "to negotiate a contract"....and there's been no contract (that we know of).

So I think Jerry could weasel out of any accusations.

I work for a company that uses national and international "standards", like ANSI for example. We have to interpret their verbiage and sometimes we are soft, but most often we are VERY literal about it. Doing exactly what they say can leave a lot of leeway!

Yeah, that would be the right thing to do. But If I put myself in his position, I'm going to want to minimize the chance I get injured. Because we're talking the difference of 24M, and a possible 150-200M. How much risk would you take?

If I'm Parsons, this is what I do. I don't show up to play until either week 10 or 11. I forget what the deadline is. Then if they tag me, I sign the tag if it's non-exclusive. The only way I sign an exclusive tag is to be traded. After that year you're free.
