You don't understand the mentality of a man like Jerry Jones. He is not going to back down. If Micah ever is apologetic maybe Jerry will offer something more. Lose-lose? Maybe, but who will get affected more? The guy whose team has a net worth of more than 10 billion. Or the player who makes about 1/100th of that amount?

It’s not just about money. It’s supposed to be about winning. I know that’s not always true here. Without Micah Parsons, this team is not a realistic playoff team.

So yeah, Jerry can count his money while once again watching the playoffs on TV.

This is a no win situation. People saying the team has “leverage” are only looking at power moves like fines and the franchise tag. Yes those are options but in the end everyone loses.

Fining a player who happens to be the best player on the team because of a preventable contract squabble is a disaster to a team with a rookie HC and a defense that without Parsons is bad.

Jerry has completely botched this. At this point he should trade him because even if they try to fine or tag him, everyone loses. This was all so completely avoidable.

I think Micah and the agent have been working this all along because the goal has been to get traded out of Dallas. Don't think Micah wanted to be here.

I have been wondering that myself.

For Micah to post a "Goodbye Dallas" message recently along with his childish (and it is childish) removal of all things Cowboys related from his X account, it really suggests he wants to go somewhere else rather than play for the Cowboys.

At this point, even if he gets a great contract, there is going to be lingering damage and every injury he gets, every miss tackle, every play or series he takes off, every game he disappears, etc. the fans and media are going to bring up that huge contract and how he never really wanted to be here.

What Jerry is saying is completely worthless. Don’t believe me, believe what the current NFL Collective Bargaining Agreement says.

Under the current CBA, a club can only negotiate with the player's NFL certified agent, who in this case is David Mulgaletta. Violating this rule can result in the disapproval of any resulting contract or offer sheet. That is a fact.

So even if Jerry and Micah had some private “handshake deal” as Jerry intimates, it’s completely invalid. By the NFL’s operating CBA.

Jerry is saying this to win in the court of public opinion. He knows what he is saying is not valid. But he also knows a lot of fans will fall for it.

I take issue with the way he does business and the way he treats the players throughout the process.

Nothing was ever in writing as Jerry said. Those details would have to be done with his agent. Jerry knows this. He is lying about having a deal. According to the CBA, since Micah is not representing himself, he cannot negotiate anyway, it has to be an agent certified by the player's association. Jerry also knows this.

Show me where all of these claims you make are facts. Shw me in the cba where it says an owner and player cant sit down and agree on years, numbers, and guarantees and then send it over to the agent. More importantly, if you arent going to actually listen to the entire discussion between jerry and Irvin,..... take a walk.

there clearly was no written deal.... but an old school man like Jerry... he is like me. My word means something. Your word means something.... go back on your word...... and we have a serious problem. Jerry made it clear, hes got Michael for three more years.... chew on that agent.

In his mind, Mulugheta doesn't have a large role in getting that done and referred back to the fact that Parsons is still playing on the final year of his rookie deal and can be franchise tagged over the next two years.

Jerry really has both in hand. Three years this way and both the hot shots are losers or out of the sport.

Jerry already offered him the world and could have already dragged his own advantage.

Three years of lost revenue is much worse than a 5 year contract at much higher rates.

When I say petty what I was thinking is if Jerry found a loophole and not play him. More specifically if Parsons doesn’t practice and they can prove he’s not injured through medical doctors, I can see Jerry getting petty by fining him or getting him in trouble for conduct detrimental to the team. I’m not sure of the rules if a player is not injured but doing a hold in stating he is injured and he’s not. Jerry has dug in pretty deep here and if this stand off continues it can get worse before it gets better.

Bottom line:

We are run by a GM who has consistently dragged out negotiations to the detriment of the player, team, and cap and is making things personal between himself and a star player and agent that likely ends in a divorce.

It’s a train wreck of one man’s making. Any other GM would be canned for bungling things to the point the sides aren’t even talking.

JJ seems willing to cut his own throat to prove a point. Pride, arrogance, stubbornness, and ego all to make this about himself.

This team has been so, so hard to watch and stomach since getting blown out by GB in the playoffs.

He has always been the main clown at the show, but now it’s like JJ has gone rabid and completely off the rails.
