RELEASED *** Cowboys 53-player Roster Cuts/Released Thread ***

Dude , what part of practice do you not comprehend!??

You must believe no evaluations take place at practice, during drills, scrimmages, 1's bs 1's.

When do you think Booker became the starting RG? After we drafted him or after his 1 or 2 series in preseason during week 3???
Booker. After we drafted him.

So you see zero value in preseason as an ext of the preseason practice times?

You can evaluate them in just limited practices with zero tackling.

Which NFL teams are you advising, exactly?

Will someone please keep us posted on good 1T'S that are released? I didn't keep up with other teams this year.
“Good” nosetackles will not be cut.

For a lot of Cowboy fans, all they want is Mazi cut when he’s not even the worst DT currently on the roster that will make the team.

Anyone being jettisoned by another team is not going to be starting ahead of Mazi.

Anyone with that talent is staying or is getting traded.

Last 10 years only 4 1t trades. I know there were a couple of DTs moved the other day not sure though if they were 1Ts or not

I am not the one doing the evaluating. So to answer your question, it is a No I can't.

Do you believe Coaches get a better idea of a undrafted FA working against their own teams 1's at practice or during a preseason game against the opposing teams 3's in a meaningless game?

At practice and during film study, they know if a player understands their assignments or not.

During 1 on 1 drills, they know if they have the right skills set and if they can compete.

Comparing 3 vs 3 teaches nothing. They all played in college. They all were drafted or signed, so we already know they can play in college.

Having a low level college game, with NFL uniforms on, like it is Halloween is a joke.

The real reason 100 players(is not so they can try to make the team) go to camp is so the 50+ players have some one to beat up on at practice, without the the starters hurting each other.

Maybe they will sign him after week one, they probably didn't want his salary guaranteed
Probably part of it. Also he isn’t getting anything more than the minimum from another team, which he would be better off with in Dallas given the shaky OT situation and he probably lives there.

He is a good guy to PS if injuries mount, but you can’t do things like pass on Thomas or even Cornelius because Collins is supposedly more proven.

Mazi should have been on this list, he's a 1st rd bust who has been taking valuable time on the DL away from other players who actually might have a chance to make the Cowboy team or the Practice Squad.
He has a GTD rookie contract.

Its a 2M+ cap hit to cut him this year.

Then they have to find another DT. League min is 1M

So its a 3M+ hit just to replace Mazi.

its likely next March though.

Mazi is Danny Noonan 2.0, super strong but a really bad football player who will eventually get cut because he just doesn't make plays.
Noonan was a juicer at a time when the nfl started testing. He was drafted at 300 and dropped down to 275. He also had 7.5 sks in his 2nd year before he lost all the weight. He looks around 200 lbs in more recent pics.

I think there is value, at bottom of depth chart guys getting tome against other players and schemes, albeit vanilla, yes.

Take Pride for example. No way knowing prior to preseason that Carson would get hurt. So giving him time against wrs he's not seen move the exact same way is helpful to evaluate him.

He will probably go to.practice squad. But he earned that through practices and preseason, which is an extention of practice.

This is all im saying. The other poster made it sound like we don't need preseason at all. There is benefits for players. Ie maybe the big 370 lb dt for Ravens doesn't make their squad, but another team saw enough to see value in adding him

For players, preseason games are where they can showcase their skills not only for current team but for other teams.

I know you know this. Your vastly more intelligent to dilute ps down just 5 people making a squad that they are currently on.

Booker, because of draft status starts. If he does not start it means a major whiff / reach by the front office. A top 12 pick not starting would be embarrassing as hell.

Is he deserving? We will know quickly matching up against the eagles tough line

I think Noonan's knee was wrecked.

Is he any good, why would Ravens cut him then , unless they have better
They are super deep there. He needs reps he's not an all pro, just a guy I have interest in being picked up even if for ps

I know very little about these guys. I was hoping Neville would show something. Quite the story. Being deaf and going through 20 surgeries.

I am really worried about Shotty picky the 53 man team and deciding who is going to start, because a lot of players did not play in preseason.

As a new HC, with no experience, how can he make those types of decisions like that.

:lmao:

Troy Pride Jr Josh Kelly and John Stephens only three I’m interested in bringing back .

My prediction is he doesn’t make the year before he is gone
