It appears that these coaches really looked at the game film of these players from the pre season and they did what they were supposed to do. In recent years it felt like they just kept guys just to keep them, even though there was a player at that position that out played a player who has made this team before.

The nepotism aspect seems to be gone, good example would be cutting Izzy! He's been on this team for several years now, but he was outshined by younger guys, it is what it is, I love it going forward. Please give your thoughts! Good job to the coaches/scouts etc!

Nothing against Crosby, good player but I just dont see that at all. Crosby is only about 5-10lbs heavier than Parsons (depending on the source) so he sees similar issues in the run game as Parsons. His pass rush metrics are worse than Micahs too.

For example in 2024:

• Micah had 12 sacks on 392 pass rush snaps
  • 1 sack per 32 snaps
  • 19% pressure rate (75 total pressures)
• Crosby had 7.5 sacks on 431 pass rush snaps
  • 1 sack per 57 snaps
  • 12% pressure rate (53 total pressures)

2023

• Micah had 14 sacks on 463 pass rushes
  • 1 sack per 33 snaps
  • 21% pressure rate (99 total)
• Crosby had 14.5 sacks on 623 snaps
  • 1 sack per 43 snaps
  • 12.7% pressure rate (79 total)

Now add tackles and TFL

Going against the Eagles, their expectations against Dallas begs for an awakening. I was trying to point to that very thing. Dallas hasn't given away anything about actual scheme or decisions of staff.

To your comment, the offensive line is a strong unit now. Good comment there. Agreed as to a team strength, also.

Parsons is obviously the best defender on the Cowboys and makes a case for being the best defender in the NFL.

On the other hand there are many superior level defenders in the NFL. How many NFL defensive players would you consider to be in the same tier level as Parsons. It is not limited to Parsons’ position. The other players can play any position as long as it’s on defense.

Now think about this: Is Parsons likely to perform better than a majority of that group over the next 5 years and how many new players will arrive that will escalate to Parsons’ tier and how many of those player will Parsons likely out perform?

When you look at this situation though this lens from my point of view the probability that paying Parsons to be the top defender in the league doesn’t look like a winning cap strategy.

Ah, but just because those players exist doesn't mean we'll sign them.

This is a good argument. I do think Parsons is probably the best player on the Cowboys but I don't think he is the best DE, passrusher or defensive player in the NFL. Myles Garrett and TJ Watt are better to me. Micah should be paid under those 2. TJ Watt and Myles Garrett are both equally as good if not better pass rushers and are better run defenders. But I am guess age is the reason why Parson's is projected to be worth more?

Wish this were a thing due to the money being thrown at Dak. He is clearly not top tier, yet highest paid player in the NFL.

'If' is the keyword. I might give some benefit of the doubt to Eugenia and Charlotte for what they say they might do in the but none for Moe, Larry and Curly Jerry, Steven and Junior.

There's a different situation at play. Jerry controls everything. Unless there's a will dictating one of his children gets full operations control of the Cowboys, they'll have to work together, negotiate with each other, etc. Stephen won't be able to just do what he wants unless his siblings allow it. It could boil down to nasty lawsuits otherwise and (in a best case scenario) the Jones family selling the team.

We just don't know what all of Jerry's kids want in the long-term other than staying rich. Since Stephen, unlike Jerry, wants a HC that knows the X's and O's, there's a chance, however slight, things will get better when Jerry passes.
