The decision to punt on 4th and 5 in Overtime

After the Williams run for 20 yards on 2nd and 30, Dak throws to Tolbert for a gain of 5 yards. It was 4th and 5 from our 46 yard line with approximately 3 minutes left and only 1 timeout.

With the way the defense was playing and the amount of time left, did you like the decision to punt it back to the Giants?

I personally hated it, and felt it was a Mike McCarthy-like decision

They ignore Tolbert all game then decide to target him several times with the game hanging in the balance. Makes no sense. Throwing to a covered Pickens is a better option than Tolbert.

Yeah I don’t do it but I get why they did it and it worked.

I’m not as hard on Tolbert as some but it just seems like that is better suited for Pickens or Lamb.

I liked it. The defense stepped it up in the overtime. Last week it was the second half. So there is work to do. But they proved last week and in overtime this week that they can play defense. Also the run defense has been good the whole two games. At one point they were way behind in yards and caught up with the Giants in yards. So now get them playing sharp defense from the start of the game.

I hated not going for the FG at the end of the first half, why not see if he can get it, I think it would have been 67, if Im not mistaken
His 64 yarder had 3 or 4 yards to spare

Tolbert not being able to make a guy miss in the open field there just shows his lack of RAC ability. i mean, the vast majority of WRs shake free there and pick up an extra 10+ yards.

What else could do , if you go for it and dont convert cant kick a FG , instead punt and pin deep and hope D stops it is the correct decision

I thought this was the worst decision Schotty made as HC so far… and it oddly paid off with that unbelievable Russ interception. Very strange sequence of events.

you don't make it and you give the ball to the Giants in long field goal range. how stupid would that have been.

Is Tolbert really the best we can do? He doesn't have amazing hands, he isn't big, fast, or strong. Can Flournoy really not outplay the guy?
