Very early rankings appear to be a big improvement!

Remember the red zone stats from last year, Cowboys were either dead last or 2nd to last on both sides of the football. After 1st two weeks they are:

-11th in red zone defense
-16th in offense

You could make an argument, the won and lost the 1st two games just with this stat. Last week they stopped the Giants twice on downs, in a 3 pt win that is the difference.

I don’t understand why the Cowboys have Sanders on the roster. He’s a liability.

I didn’t think that Williams had anything left in the tank, but he has been a pleasant surprise. Make no mistake—he is not an elite runner—but he is at least serviceable which is more than I expected.

I’m ready to see what Blue and the other rookie bring to the party.

I think the Cowboys willingness to run the football in the red zone, and not give up on it, has been a big positive this year. I think Dak's play has also been a big positive so far.

But I also think we had big questions about the offensive line going into the season and so far the answers have all been negative.

Well I admit I was nervous when they put him in this last game, but he did good.
Should not judge someone for 1 time getting the ball punched out or pulled out.
Hopefully he will hold on tighter now.
I would like to see blue of mafah at some point, but barring injuries that may not happen.

Ben Johnson should be able to scheme circles around Matt Eberflus and with the Dallas defense the way it’s playing, I think the Bears score some points. However, Dallas will have even more success against the Bears’ defense because they are playing like the worst defense in the league.

That is just being pessimistic and reflective of an upgrading of the defensive line group and the secondary returning injured section members and waiting for Overshown.

For me this is more exciting and encouraging than our record. After the Micah I pretty much accepted this is a soft rebuild. I came to peace with it. So for me in a rebuilding year I want to see progress and this is progress. Also the eye test of stopping the run is encouraging moving forward. Wins and losses are an added bonus. Well wins anyway, lol. But for me progress and discipline and player development is what I am more focused on this year.

So these stats of improving the trenches is exciting. I’ve been complaining about the trenches for 3-4 years now.

Do you mean Clark? I think you meant Clark and yes I’m hoping we retain him with a renewed or renegotiated contract. Just in the first 2 games he’s got 1.5 sacks (I believe it’s 1.5) and he’s a force against the run. He’s changed the LOS for us in a big way.

Trenches has always been the issue here for years. They can always find playmakers at the skilled positions, but it won’t matter if they cannot hold up at the line of scrimmage. It’s early, but it is headed in the right direction

Remember, it is all about scoring td’s and forcing your opponent to kick fg’s. Take away those big passing plays and tighten up down in the red zone, is the goal for this defense. Would be great to get some turnovers as well

The 2nd half of the eagles game where neither offense could muster another point after both teams marching up and down the field at will in the 1st half should be ignored in my eyes. I believe that nearly 1 hr delay had more to do with both offenses falling apart than both defenses tightening up for a 2nd half shutout. It makes the Dallas defense look way better than it is which is a bottom 3 maybe bottom 5 defense.

I don't like it that much either, I would say sprinkle in Miles earlier in the drive, if williams is hot, let him stay in

Well I think that their way of thinking is Williams didn't have any preseason and when you're this early in a season you can't give them 30 carries yet you want to ease them into it I'm not sure if you can handle 30 carries but I would like a few more carries but Sanders just waste of space falling forward for three yards in between that one big play in the fumble there's been nothing it's time to bring up Blue and I'll take Malik Davis over him guys got more wiggle and speed what you need is a change of pace back somebody to make the defense go chase after they got banged on by Williams...

Point being I think they'll increase his workload over time.... No need no need to wear him out or get him hurt... That's why I'd like a better backup because I want those six to 8 carries to be more productive not just giving our guy a blow...

I was thinking of a new approach.

Trade away the offense and spend all money on the best defenders.

Then the offense just needs to get within Aubrey's range. They could do thar with a minimum wage offense.

They could afford a top 3 player at each defensive position if they spent minimal on offense.
