Micah abused our OL

True. The last elite/all decade caliber edge guy to win a Superbowl was Von Miller who was drafted 15 years ago.

Complete opposite for interior rushers, this decade alone the best d-lineman for the Superbowl winning team has all been interior (Carter, Aaron Donald, Chris Jones, Vita Vea).
He also had a HOF pass rusher opposite of him

Essentially PFF is saying that Micah getting close to Dak 8 times was more valuable than Dak dicing up the Packers for 70 minutes. Tells you all you need to know about PFF
No what it tells you is Micah played better than anyone else relative to his position. The scoring doesn’t mean one player is more valuable than another. You’d rather your QB have a 90 rating than your DE every week but the statement still stands.

Daks position encompasses the entire offense, receivers need to get open, catch, blockers block etc. Dak may have thrown tight risky throws and missed the easier more profitable throw that you didn’t notice.

On pass rushing downs Micah, a pass rusher, played his position better than anyone else. If an entire offense quick passes and focuses on blocking and staying away from Micah then he doesn’t have enough time even if he wins at the line, like he usually does, to get a sack.

A QB can play a great game and still have a lower score than the pass rusher he faced even with a ton of points scored and no sacks. Means the rest of the defense didn’t capitalize off the attention he was given.

Top corners don’t see a lot of targets, which means they don’t get a lot of chances for interceptions, does that mean they weren’t good? The film could show them blanket their Wr they are covering the entire game but they can lose that game badly because the rest of the team, even only having to over one side of the field, failed to capitalize off it.

Also it was 13-0 before special teams and defense made some plays to get back into the game. Where was Dak the entire first half? It was 13-2 until the final minute of the first half. If Dak had played better maybe they wouldn’t have tied. There’s your PFF score.

Baldy the professional with that take.......Hmmm.

If Jerry plays this right.......it can work in Cowboy favor. Good return from the picks is paramount to swinging the pendulum in Cowboy favor. That is worrisome, as there's no confidence.

Can't fault Micah for getting GB's money, the last man at the table generally gets more. Just like the hate on Dak's money, it's not the player, it's the timing. We all know Garrett, Watts, Crosby, Hendrickson, and a Bosa(SF, when healthy) measure up above Micah.

Problems.....Jerry waits too long to secure the major deals and holes on defense remain unfilled (Sanborn,Clark,Elam,Mazi, etc). And Jerry refuses to "steal" or get a Howie Roseman. And scouting/player evaluation is failing. And fan patience is at thin ice mode, rightfully.

We await the verdict.

Agree.

The reality is that if an offense gets the ball out exceptionally fast then it doesn't matter who the edge rusher is as they won't have enough time to impact the play. It's not a case of Parsons not being very good it's more a case of defensive ends only making impactful plays really when they have sufficient time. e.g., If a defense has better corners covering receivers then it forces the quarterback to hold onto the ball longer thus bringing the pass rusher into the game.

I do agree the elite interior lineman can impact plays more as they need less time to influence a quarterback's decision.

I would much rather have Parsons but in a salary cap era when your quarterback is the highest paid player in NFL history then it's difficult to make it happen. Quarterback is the more important position so it's understandable why the front office would prioritise Prescott but in my view you are far more likely to replace a quarterback like Prescott then a defender like Parsons in the draft. People can hate Parsons but he has been an elite defender in the league for 4 years including 2 x first time All Pro.

Jerry's comment about not winning Superbowls with Parsons is a bit silly as well. Would Chris Jones have 3 Superbowl rings without Patrick Mahomes as his quarterback? Would Patrick Mahomes have 3 Superbowl rings without Chris Jones, Travis Kelce and Andy Reid? It's just a bit of a cheap shot really as you need more than one great player to win as a team.

It's either personal and/or he's just had to show how smart of a football expert he is.

Parsons did well shedding pass blocks, but we countered it by not having long developing plays or Dak having that internal clock in his head and knowing when to move in the pocket.
I mean, he made most of the line look bad at times with his quick step and ability to beat them inside or outside.

IMO while the NFL has it's premier positions, it's still a team game. 11 players on both sides, so while a star can make an impact, this isn't basketball 5v5, and everyone could handle the ball.
An elite pass rusher can be neutralized with a quick passing game, and if the corners suck...
An elite corner can be neutralized with no pass rush.

An elite QB can be neutralized with no offensive line IE Luck and Burrows.
An elite RB can be.... without an offensive line
An elite WR can be neutralized without a good QB (Bengals)

etc...
You can't just have one stud and 10 JAGs and expect every game to have success or elite stats.

If Alex Smith was still the QB for the Chiefs, Jones would still be very good, but not a 3x champ.

Here is the funny, or sad part, Baldinger posts a video of Micah beating all the Cowboys blockers and Cowboys fans, supposedly football fans, can't even appreciate it for what it is. Instead they have to deny their own eyes because they refuse to accept they might be wrong about him. I remember when Tiger Woods was at his peak, basically destroying the rest of the PGA field, and he still had his detractors making all kinds of excuses why Tiger was not great or one of the best golfers in history. It is a weird thing, some kind of psychological issue I suppose.

Dak had an absolutely great night against GB. He was getting rid of the ball quickly and accurately. It is actually very un-Dak like. But on that night he was spectacular with his timing. If not, he would have been sacked maybe 9 or 10 times. But this should not take anything away from Micah. He did what he always does. Most nights QBs do not have nights like Dak did and this is what makes Micah one of the greats.

Say what you want about Dak but he was in his bag because Parsons could have easily had 3-5 sacks that game. He was abusing our offensive lineman. Even when we chipped him Guyton still couldn't block him smh.
Almost sacks isn't as impressive as you and PFF are trying to make it sound. You either get the sacks, or you watch your opponent carve up your defense for 40 points.

Might as well give participation trophies for "almost sacks". They would go great with "moral victories".

He didn't "beat all our blockers, nor are we dumb for calling out the truth - Micah was contained, and almost completely neutralized. If he wasn't then the Cowboys wouldn't have scored 40.

That 40 burger is the biggest clue about all of this. It ain't happening if Micah really had a great game. He didn't, thus the 40 burger by the Cowboys, and only one sack for 0 yards lost for Micah.

Micah was virtually a non-factor and this PFF advanced metric is for midwits that need to avoid seeing the forest for the trees.

Well to be fair Micah and his defensive mates only gave up 38 points. LOL! The thing that amuses me most is that according to the "stats" Micah got 10 pressures on 30-ish pass rush snaps. Now I'm no math major but that means that he got no pressure on at least 2/3 of his pass rush snaps. Now a .333 average would be great if we were talking baseball.. but this is football and in football if your man beats you 67% of the time then you were not "dominant" nor were you "taking turns beating" anybody. The numbers say they were taking turns beating you. I even question ruling his tackle of Dak as a sack because the ball DID go beyond the line of scrimmage. They marked the ball were Dak's knee hit but the ball was obviously out in front of him when the knee went down. I thought it was a bad spot and if it had been the goal line he would have been ruled as having broken the plane. But I digress..

That’s not what it means. You should check out how they do the grades

Every single play was AWAY from him.

The entire SCHEME was built to stay away from Micah.

Do you guys watch the games? Or do you just look at stats?

That basically means all week in every meeting this offensive staff planned an entire strategy to stay away from the guy. LOL.

He is also not counting 47 million against the cap. Not even close. Go look at his cap hits before continuing to spew this nonsense. His contract for lack of a better term is actually very team friendly. When his cap hits get up to those numbers, he is cuttable with limited damage to the cap. Its how smart FO's operate in a cap era. Problem is our FO cant do math unless it is overpaying an injured player.
You are the one not paying attention. We ran the ball right at him in our first possession. We wore him down with JWilliams and making him rush outside, not allowing him inside. Later in the game, we blocked him with just a tackle, no help.

Your baseball analogy is actually a good one and it absolutely applies here.

10 pressures in week four led the league and is a dominant number for a single game.

Pressures are also not the same as pass rush win rate.

Micah had a PRWR of 33%, which is ridiculous. It’s more like hitting .400 if it were to be sustained over a season.

If you expect a pass rusher to get to the QB say 66% of the time, think about how that would translate to sacks. It would be like 60 sacks in a season.

Most posters dont understand anything outside or face value stats.

I'm sure he expected to have more of an impact however out of 10 QB pressures he accounted for 7 of them being schemed away from and often double teamed which is still phenomenal. He's no Myles Garrett but all teams build game plans around him.

Why its a "team" game. Just like how coaches, GMs, and etc dont care about the QB win thing. Thats just for media talking heads for click bait and your average Joe fans to drink talk about.

Yeah what I saw was a Cowboys team that planned for whatever happened, they were not going to lose to Micah.. anyone else.

I agree with you.
Thunderpimp's #59 response to McDaddys #55 post(which I fully agreed with) mentions the impact on the play/result of the play should be a part of the PFF metric not limited to snap of the ball activity.
