Prescott had a very shaky 4th QTR

did you even read the thread title?

this is the problem i have been saying for quite some time. Assessing dak in any critical way automatically means you only blame him.

you have to go through the litany of every other issue first, before getting to dak...every time.

ridiculous.
Well when the OP reads "Prescott had a very shaky 4th quarter." to whom should we assume the poster is referring.

Haha true on thick skin. My point is Dak is on fire right now for the most part and it's crazy to blame the qb, the offense is carrying the water, the defense is costing us games, our kicker is a stud and Jerry sucks (something I think everyone can agree on).
That does mean we can;t point out when Dak as his offense aren't up to snuff. Can't say ANYTHING "critical".

Oh wait...because our defense sucks...it means we can't.

oh boy.

I can't agree it's really dumb to even call out the quarterback or the offense even though they have some blame they did fumble the ball and drop a lot of passes in the Eagles game They are responsible for some of the three and outs and the things that they didn't do well in the Bears game So let's keep even here and if you say Jerry sucks who the hell built the offense and the special teams are you saying none of this is his if it's positive only if it's negative jerry sucks but half his team is great the part that sucks is just all on him?

Just want to make sure we're clear I get it i'm not going to be a Jerry supporter I don't really care what he says or does I don't care who owns this team or who the GM is or who the front office is I support the team That's the whole team.

So I'm not gonna say Jerry sucks because that means 2/3 of the team that's good is not his team is it owned by somebody else?

And don't give me the 30 year nonsense don't give me the narratives don't try to tell me that all the positives on that side of the ball must have been Will Mcclay and Brian Schottenheimer but everything on the defensive side must be Jerry because he's not doing enough to fix it.

Maybe he is maybe behind the scenes he's trying I don't know i'm not gonna say one way or the other I choose not to take sides just like I didn't with Parsons by the way parsons was picked by who in the draft? I mean all the good stuff that happens in the draft also not Jerry and but all the bad stuff is Jerry the bad picks a lot of the defenders that he does pick in the draft just don't work out and that's why one side of the ball is better than the other I think it's just bad luck...

The reality is and was the same with both Dak and Romo. Regardless of what they do, they defense ends up screwing ir up at the end.

If we take the lead with 2 minutes left in the game, we still lose 90% of the time.
Yeah no one seems willing to address the fact that unless the offense has a two score lead in the final minutes the defense aint holdin nothin. And since we could not get a two score lead (because the defense was allowing Carolina to run the ball at will, eat clock and score) our only hope was to have the ball last. We didn't.. so we lost.

Right correct II don't know why you would have a separate post about it you could talk about it during the game if you don't like it that we had a couple 3 an ounce with some suspect play calls that's great call out Brian Schottenheimer call out the offense but don't have a special post just for Prescott our quarterback had a shaky 4th quarter like Williams had a shaky all game we had no run game our offensive line was shaky all games our defenses was shaky all game..

I mean we have post game threads we have pregame we have during game threads all this can be vented in there but to call out your quarterback specifically is ridiculous given the fact that he had a great game if you think about his offensive line and his run game just wasn't there and he had no defense And yes the play calls were very suspect but he didn't call him it's not his fault Williams couldn't break break tackles wasn't his fault we're missing Lamb and Turpin three games in a row and yet he's keeping us afloat I don't get the hate yes if you want to mention it by all means but don't make a special threat on it so you can Hate on the quarterback for no good reason...

Common man, everyone knows QB's carry teams.

Moutain Molehill carried KC over Detroit. Didn't everyone watch and see how it works. Why can't Dak do that?

Most be nice be the Goat of a of the League on a team that only needs 18 points to win games.

So you think that is blaming ONLY Dak.

No wonder we have problems around here.

SO what if you don;t agree. What's the big whoop? They did fail late in the game.

I said "they".

And already told you they weren't, and didn't HAVE to "be perfect all game".

Elite...#1 offense, and their coaches.... couldn't get it done late game.

So what? The FACT of it needs fought about to the deathmatch?

Baker Mayfield...IS.

FACT.

So Prescott who Jerry signed and nobody liked the $60 million who CD lamb the depth on the offensive line George Pickens Ferguson's new deal aubrey who they got from the UFL that's a free agent turpin as a free agent so you're saying that the things that they're on fire and great at that Jerry had nothing to do with that I mean are you actually going to sit here and be a hypocrite and saying Jerry sucks except for the things you just complimented the team on because you act like he didn't build that offense.

I get this straight he's only responsible for the bad things but anything that's good like our offense and our special teams our head coach our coordinator who's calling the plays our offensive line coach and our OC those are all not Jerry is that what you're trying to say here and tell me I mean you can't have it both ways you're speaking out of both sides of your mouth as they used to say and you're really now stuck in a dead end alley because you're blaming Jerry for Matt Eberflu's not being very good and having a bunch of injuries on defense because he hasn't done something most first year coordinators and coaches don't they don't get fired on any team until after the season..

I just wanna make sure we're on the same page you're saying everything good about this team is not Jerry everything bad's all his fault...
Jerry is the GM, Jerry puts the roster together, Jerry hires the coaches, yes the buck stops with Jerry on personnel and coaches. Are you saying the lack of any quality playoff wins the last 30 years, let alone Super Bowl or even an NFCCC game is anyone else other than the owner and GM? Do I like some of the things he has done, absolutely. But the team's inability to win in the playoffs and have success has one common denominator, the owner/GM. I am not going to give Jerry credit for waiting on Dak's contract then being forced to pay him $60 million per year. There isn't anything overall good about a team that is 2-3-1. I don't blame the players, the coaches, or the mascot...it's not rocket science. Jerry does do some good things, but the bad outweighs it. So yes, we are on the same page.

What other players are named in that title? I honestly think both Schottenheimer and Dak got fooled by the defense forcing a 3 and out the previous possession. So they operated without the "this is our last chance" urgency on the drive when they got the ball with over 8 minutes left. And again.. I cannot blame them. There was nothing to indicate that they would not get the ball again at least one more time. Yes they failed in this instance. Why is stating that not enough for you? Why do I have to say Dak choked or they choked or some other derogatory ish? The fact of the matter is they didn't choke because I don't think they felt any urgency at that point in the game. Now if that had taken place with under 2 minutes I would be there with you.. but with 8 minutes left? That's not choking.. that's counting on your defense to get you the ball back just like they did 5 minutes ago. Now if you would now classify the mindset of counting on the defense at all as "choking" then okay.. they choked. They misread the room on that. And I would still wager 99% of coaches and fans would never have believed that our last possession would come when we got the ball with over 8 minutes left. I just don't think coaches and players see 8 minutes left in a tie or one score game as do or die time.

The NFL owners are an elite group. The success of the league is more important than any one team. The NFL does not need popular teams to be successful. They just need them to be relevant, and hang out at the rim, if you will.

Overtime they need more small market success and relevancy, to keep the illusion going,
and how to justify expansion.

This is also why they have profit sharing. The NFL is not 32 Owners trying to win a SB every year that they want the fans to believe it is.

Jerry Jones is the perfect example of it.

Okay at this point in the season I think it's a given and fully expected that the defense cannot be counted on and yes it makes it tremendously hard on the offense the quarterback the play calling and everything. Else

That said when you're on the 46-yard line not pin back at your five and you know that there's no way in the world your defense can hold it is your duty when you're making 60 million dollars the price of 4 good players to be able to assess the situation and rise above and get your most clutch player into position to have an opportunity.

Yes the play calling was horrific but the quarterback does have the ball in his hands last he's the last one to make the decision see what's in front of him and try to pull the rabbit out of the hat.

All I'm saying is Dak has played great all year.
He has done his best to make up for a horrendous defense.
But in that last series he wasn't giving us rookie value journeyman value not even close to Baker Mayfield value let alone 60 million worth of veteran player presents decision making and the ability to rise to the occasion.

Dak is not the reason we lost that game but in all honesty for 60 million in that situation I expect A better effort if you got to make the play with your legs you got to expose yourself and do it whatever it takes to get the job done

so with our defense...you think it would take them 8 minutes to score? do i have that right?

im not asking you to say anything. you dont have to agree with op, me or anyone.

i just dispise the notion dak cannot be criticed in any way shape or form.

Any GM would have signed these players. It's not what Jerry does right, it's all that he does wrong and just doesn't do. This team should be so much better on defense. Also, he paid Dak and Lamb more than he had to, Aubrey fell into their lap, and Jerry never goes and signs virtually anyone in free agency. I guarantee you if you put a gun to Jerry's head he couldn't name every player on the roster right now. He's not going to go get the defense any help and they won't fire Eberflus because a billionaire who owns the most valuable sports franchise in the world "doesn't like paying fired coaches to sit at home." So he'd rather tank another season then be out a few million at most. There's not a single team who would hire Jerry as their GM. Hell, they wouldn't hire him as an assistant to the GM. He's awful and is the overwhelming reason we haven't made an NFC Championship game in 30 years.

This is just so ridiculous. It's unreal. So many conversations on this board are pointless, no one is changing anyone's mind about Dak. I think there are like 5 posters who look at his play objectively. Show me one, ONE QB who is paid big money who doesn't have several 3 and outs in a game? There were 7 minutes left, no rational fan who has even a modicum of football knowledge should think that Dak should have played that possession like it was to win the game. That is pure insanity and is nothing but frustration and hindsight looking for someone to blame. Dak is playing as good as you could ask a QB to play right now. We literally have the worst defense in the league in almost every metric and would be 4-2 at worst right now and tied for first in the division if they were just decent. The blame is solely at Eberflus' and Jerry's feet for this team having only 2 wins.

I would actually be ok with that. However Jerry does not tank seasons. We should have had a top 5 pick after last season.

He is adamant about hanging out at the rim. That is his goal every year. He is not trying to win a SB, and he does not want to be below .500.

He has figured out the algorithm and that the Cowboys get the most attention being purgatory.

You didn't give him credit you did not say thank you Jerry for giving us a prolific offense a top five quarterback and a great special teams you you said nothing in there about all the guys that we signed and the things that he did do right we're not doing that..

It doesn't matter how much is $60 million i'm saying he was willing to pay it to make sure we weren't going through quarterback problems like the Browns you got that my man you get it yet you can't talk out of the side of your mouth you can't say how awesome an elite our offense is without saying thank you Jerry. I'm not having it we won't be having a discussion because you don't know how to have one where you can see both sides of the debate..

No they wouldn't they wouldn't even drafted them the fact that we've had two franchise quarterbacks and are not paying eight quarterbacks like the Browns not going through quarterback hell like the Steelers and other teams.

Don't give me that nonsense we literally got George Pickens to make this offense better they went and got Turpin Butler and Aubrey from the UFL they made the special teams and the offense great instead of saying thank you you just complained about the defense.... So go ahead keep it up be a hypocrite you can't say anything nice about Jerry only negatives anything that's good it's not him.. So Jerry's the only franchise that hired Matt Eberfluous because I'm pretty sure he worked under Mike Zimmer at one point he had his own team in Chicago he was with the Colts this isn't his first rodeo or his first hire and he's not the only team that would have done it because look around...

It's nice sitting here in hindsight and saying how bad a hire this is but he's been on other teams.. Mike Nolan was a Mike Mccarthy hire and Jerry fired him after one year you say that they he won't do it because of the money on the contract but he did it but you expecting him to fire matt right now? Show me a franchise that hired a brand new coaching staff and then midway through the season fired to DC versus just let them play it out and see how it works out and then make a move in the offseason with these draft picks you make the moves in the offseason...

I want to hear about the GM in the 30 years you know I've been around i'm 55 years old I know the story I know the history i've been a Cowboys fan since 1981 I've had a lot of heartbreak even watching the Cowboys in the 80s my man So don't give me this nonsense you know what you know what underperformed Tom Landry should have won five Super Bowls and he only won two You're gonna blame Jerry for that that's sad actually Literally went to how many championship games and didn't get to the Super Bowl Lost how many Super Bowls that's right disappointing you can claim he won plenty in the regular season of winning his coach in the regular season ever but how did that work out in the big moments because Jerry has 3 the landry teams have two.lmao

This is about perspective i'm not afraid of Jerryd I don't give a crap about Jerry But I what I can tell you is you can't skip the fact that he has put up a great offensive special teams this year because you won't admit it 0 anyone would have signed these players no no they wouldn't have even the Kansas City Chiefs got rid of Tyree Kill they didn't sign their CD lamb.

As a matter of fact the Kansas City Chiefs are constantly selling their good players they're getting rid of them... But now all teams do not do what Jerry did some of them let their players go we had to do it with Parsons this year now Jerry can never hear the end of it

What this thread is seemingly pointing out is what we all know:
Dak plays well when it's easy, but when it's crunch time and the pressure is on, he draws back into his shell and doesn't make the difference that the Cowboys need him to make for them to be better.
When the pressure was on, and the game was on the line, Prescott was not the MVP his fans proclaim him to be.
Hence, he was Dak. He was the same Dak he has been since college, and the same Dak that kept the Cowboys from succeeding and achieving greatness.

Any GM would have signed these players. It's not what Jerry does right, it's all that he does wrong and just doesn't do. This team should be so much better on defense. Even when Jerry does the right thing, he still screws it up, by waiting too late and over paying.

Waited to long with Dak overpaid.

Waited to long with CD overpaid.

Waited to long with Micah, was forced to over pay or trade him. Result - traded way to late most likely could have got more and ended up with future picks, making our defense worse today.

Waited to long to start negotiations with MM. MM declines. Playoff Bye week had already passed, making it damn near impossible to interview playoff coaches. We got stuck with Shotty for good or bad. Time will tell.

There is a pattern of laziness, undecisiveness, incompetence, arrogance or just flat out a lack of urgency, indicating that winning is not a priority.

The key decisions Jerry makes are not well planned out and seem like they are an afterthought at best.
