Are fans ready to accept the Micah trade devasted our defense?

They weren’t very good with him last year. Trading him definitely didn’t make them better. However, it is not the reason they are now awful. Signing Elam, Murray, Sanborn and Fowler to play major roles is what devastated this defense.

He did. But I believe that if one player makes that much difference, then the defense wasn't that good to begin with. Shades of Sean Lee - two different defenses whenever he would play or not play.

I agree. Was a bad defense which is why we saw the Packers game

I understand if we were actually in an official rebuild mode and Micah wasn’t in our plans as we planned on trading him to highest bidder during Free Agency that could have actually been a strategic plan. But that’s not what happened. We had every intention on resigning. We just couldn’t get a deal done . But I’m not here to argue out as that’s been exhausted over last couple months.

This thread is about what the impacts of losing Micah has meant to this defense . The fact we lost him a week before the season had to be devasting to a DC and schemes with other losses on defense in FA and injuries.

Where was our pass rush going to come from. We also lost Lawrence as a Cap Casualty. Our top two edge rushers gone .

And with our 2 CB’s not a 100% recovering from injuries we were leaving our secondary very vulnerable without a pass rush.

WTH were we thinking. We had to know it could be a disaster .

The problem was he was one of the few players on this defense that was talented enough to help this team. But they were bad last year with him.I've always enjoyed watching a great defense perform. We dont get much of that around here anymore. This is probably the main reason they can't get past the first round in the playoffs for 30 years or more.

How was the defense the year before with these Tsnk and Parsons there? How do you devastate something that is already rotten?

For me trading him was one of the worst decisions in franchise history. As I posted yesterday, 10 out of 12 front office officials consulted thought the Packers won the deal . None thought Dallas got a good deal, 2 thought if they were rebuilding you could justify it. Parsons is a generational talent who would be maximised if you surround him with good players to let him do his stuff. I personally think Jerry already regrets the move as this year with our offense and no dominant team in the NFL, with Parsons plus some better free agency we would be in contention. As to the Packers, early days yet, but he will be a difference maker for them at some point

What do you think ran through their mind when the Packers got carved up like turkey in the Revenge game? Or when Micah kept the Browns alive jumping off side with 1:40 left?

Our Defense truly sucks to high heaven. But it sucked when Micah was here too. I'm glad he's gone either way. You can @ least try to do things with 4 -#1's over the next 2 seasons.

When you're rebuilding your team consequentially will not be good for a while.

You have to know how to build in order to rebuild.

Jerry couldn't build a two-piece jigsaw puzzle.

last time I checked, Micah wasn't covering receivers. Getting rid of him did hurt the defense but we were going to be bad regardless. now we just need Jerral to turn those picks into starters.

If there's anything the GB game should have taught us is our DBS can't play zone. And this year proves it.

I don’t think last year is a fair argument especially with Dak out. The previous 3 seasons Micah made quite an impact on defense.

Despite not having more success in playoffs arguably one of our best defenses this era making us a legit playoff contender.

We were missing both DE's last year.

If you don’t think a pass rush disrupts the LOS causing havoc on the QB derails those receivers getting the ball , I can’t help ya.

I do agree this defense stinks. Worst ever possibly. But a disrupter at LOS masked many other weaknesses.

Add to that almost any NFL QB can pick apart a defense given time in the pocket.

Both Diggs and Bland owe their contracts to Micah Parsons. The free agent contracts that went to guys like Dorrance Armstrong, DeMarcus Lawrence and Jourdan Lewis were the results of Micah Parsons effective pressure on quarterbacks.

Quite often, quarterbacks were sacked by other Cowboys defenders as they were trying to escape Micah. They threw errant passes that were intercepted because they were being chased by him.

Micah Parsons is a catalyst. Even if he wasn't directly involved, he created the environment that led to other's success.

When Jerry Jones traded Micah Parsons a week before the start of the regular season it was if he had ripped the heart right out of this defense.

It was Jerry and Stephen's horrendous salary cap policies with their insistence on procrastinating contract negotiations that led to the departure of Micah Parsons. Their complete disrespect and misunderstanding for Micah's role in the defense was apparent when they insinuated
Micah should accept their deal without input from his agent.

Jerry Jones has a record of paying the wrong players. Jake Ferguson is an average TE benefiting from the Cowboys offensive style as well as their inability to acquire meaningful competition at the position. Odighizua is an average DT benefiting from playing next to Parsons. As previously mentioned, Diggs and Bland are both frauds. Their INT's were a direct result of pressure placed on the quarterback.

Jerry Jones has never possessed the ability to look beyond the surface of NFL stats. In addition, he was entirely willing to sacrifice the potential of this season in an egotistical stunt to remind everybody who is in charge.....as if we didn't alfready know by the results over the past 30 years.

Team personnel executives can spend a lifetime looking for a talent like Micah. One fell into Jerry's lap and he traded him for three players with a small probability of their return ever matching Micah's potential.

And so it goes on. As soon as a team is built with the potential of taking the next step, Jerry steps in and destroys any such potential. As an NFL GM, he is the antonym of competence..

The packers corners are waiting for their stimulus package. When is it coming?

What could have made a difference is having him and adding to it. Micah understood, he said he'd take less to add to the team.

Maybe the defense not being healthy had more to do with the ranking than anything else?

They're healthy now?

There are several personnel changes and the ones that were here are older now.

More importantly, the scheme is much different and does not fit the players they have especially in the secondary.

Diggs is nowhere near at his skill level from two years ago because it takes 18+ months for professional athletes to return to pre-injury skill level.

Hopefully next year he will be back to form if they don't replace him in some way.

Eberflus' influenced signings like Sanborn and Murray are new and worse than what Quinn had.

This team has a lot of issues and no single defensive player including Micah Parsons, Aaron Donald or any other superstar would fix this defense.

They would help it be a little better, but still a long way from what it needs to be.

I've been a fan of Diggs. But he looks like Jaylon Smith now. Slow and can't change direction.
