Russini: Cowboys' potential trade nugget(s)

Multiple teams looking to trade for a DE, so the price may be higher than it should. The Cowboys showed interest in Jermaine Johnson in the pre-draft process, and Whitecotton has coached JJ so he could be in play. However, not much production on the field, so do the Cowboys need to add another rotation guy at DE or a certified game wrecker.

Guys on current roster from "Top 30" 2022 pre draft visits:
DE: Sam Williams and James Houston
DT: Perrion Winfrey
DB: Daron Bland and Marquese Bell
RB: Malik Davis

This scouting department certainly does target veteran players based off pre draft visits, makes the pro scouts job easy I guess.

No thanks on Johnson. Some injuries, little production and fifth year deal for $13 million next year. So you’re taking a big chunk and then have to pay him for potential

Just don’t see him having an Amari Cooper type impact

We need LBs. Two most important players for Ebuflus' system is the 3 Tech and the MLB. Osa is passable as the 3Tech but we have no LBs that can play that Tampa 2 MLB.
I'm not expecting an Urlacher level but someone who can pass for an average starting level talent.

He’s coming off a ruptured Achilles tendon in week 2 last year and has missed 3 games with a sprained ankle already this year!
For all the hype and hoopla following him being passed over in the draft he has 9 sacks in 3 plus seasons!

how about a 7th for Jerome ford from cleveland. he has speed. decent size. the light bulb hasn't gone on for Blue, but Ford has speed, cpouple of years back pushed to start he had 800+ yards. can catch out of backfield.

Sounds like teams are only willing to give up players in their last year of the contract. I am confident Jerry won’t give up are premium picks but the 4th round pick in 2026 is certainly on the table.

You know the iggles will do something to help their back end of the D. The offence will work itself out, but DB is still an issue. I don't expect Jerry to do anything substantial, and as long as he doesn't cough up a premium pick for whoever, whatever.....

Neither the Eagles nor the Cowboys will trade anything better than a fifth round pick for anything. Both team have cap concerns, albeit different challenges, going forward. Their respective picks are too valuable to waste on a season that does not look like it will end with a spot in the Super Bowl.

I will not rule the iggles out quite yet, no matter how awful they look. Just remember, KC a couple of weeks ago, and look at them now...

Follow my posts find your trade nuggets…the culture approves these moves :lmao2:

There’s an advantage to having just won the Super Bowl. No need to make knee jerk reactions. Eagles will go with what they’ve got. So will the Cowboys. Jerry may be dumb, but he’s not stupid.
