Why though? Goodell already does too much. I would be totally shocked (and pretty upset) if there was.

If they want more scoring, and FF points, then keep the FG as is.

50+ is 5 points, not sure if there's a bump for 60 yarders.

Not every kicker can nail a 60+ yarder with consistency.

Because 60+ yard FG attempts this year kickers are 7 out of 8 attempts on. 50-59 yarders are getting hit at extremely high rates as well to the point its fundamentally changing the strategy of the game. Between kickers becoming too good and the kickoff rules there will be a pretty big split on opinions if this is good for the game or not. Just like why the moved the XP back....granted FGs are not quite that automatic, but I think there will become a discussion as to if the current state of FG kickers is adding excitement to the game or if the FG is actually more of a dead play during games and taking eyeballs away as fans view it as automatic or would rather see teams go for it on those 4th & 2 situations at the opponents 45 than the long FG.

I think there are really good arguments on both sides. Personally I'm torn in the middle of the discussion as the long FGs are fun to watch, but I also think we are losing end of game excitement when the Cowboys are conservatively running the ball at the end of games at mid field to just kick a long FG as well.

Could it also be the new kickoff rules contribute to this since kickers are no longer trying to kick the ball into the endzone there is less "fatigue" on the leg throughout the season.
