I got nothing. I could use a free plate. My Dad died a few years back on this day…which also happened be on my Mom’s birthday. She passed two months later. Thanksgiving is no longer a great day for me. My parents were great at Thanksgiving.

No fish today. The traditional turkey dinner with all the trimmings will be served. Green beans, mashed potatoes, sautéed mushrooms, cranberry sauce, sweet potatoes , homemade baked bread , cornbread stuffing, all served with a side of broiled Kansas City Chiefs!

Lasagna and Turkey?.......is this an Italian day of thanks as well?

My brother is having turkey at the Vatican with his Franciscan brothers, as we speak.

Yeah, I miss my mom's cooking and getting together with family on special occasions. She is the reason I started this thread, a few years ago. We do it, to honor her....I'm thankful to have had her for 47 years of my life and to still have my dad at 90. Be thankful for the memories, sounds like you have some great memories of them. Wish you the best.

Sounds like my family. We have all the traditional Thanksgiving items, and also pasta with marinara and fried eggplant. And yes, I'm Italian!! Pretty sure all Italians have some sort of pasta dish for every holiday. At least it's that way in my family.

OK on this day doesn't this question answer itself, kind of redundant,

it's Thanksgiving we're all probably eating Turkey or ham, Some might be eating lasagna, and then others might be eating tamales ,but for sure most of us will be eating Turkey today ,and all the fixins ,and all the wine, and all football we can handle...

It's just the wife an I this year so not making a full turkey. Bought one of those Turkey loafs made out of breast meat. Mashed potatoes, stuffing, green bean casserole, Hawaiian rolls, Peach cobler and vanilla ice cream. Oh and plenty of gravy.

You still have all the memories to be thankful for. Life is not permanent, if you are here, you have to leave at some point as well. What matters is the journey in between those two points, the love you share, the bonds you build, the memories you make. Hope I could make your day brighter but sending positive vibes your way.

Normally I, like most Americans across this great country, will have the traditional turkey dinner with all the trimmings but because my youngest daughter caught covid we won't be going to the in-laws house. I won't be carving the turkey, I won't be having 3 types of potatoes or my sister-laws fantastic pineapple stuffing or anything else from that masterpiece of a dinner, sadly.

However, I'm not gonna fret over it, no sir. I will come up with something delicious for my family today. I have some fresh green beens, potatoes and delicious picking foods for an antipasto but I just need a meet to round it out.

Doing a little untraditional this year. My father-in-law passed away in April. Today happens to be his Birthday, so my wife is going over to watch movies with her mom and my daughter. My friend is coming over and we are having Prime Rib and some sides and watch the game. The meat has been teasing me for a few days now. Can’t wait to eat it.
