The past two off seasons have been a disaster after the Packers playoff game, They got angry and wanted to rebuild but :
1: They dont know how to rebuild
2: They dont know how to draft

Keeping Parsons gave you a player to build around, Jones kept messing around with the contract driving it higher instead of getting it done sooner and removing it as a distraction.

Then they hire a bad DC and try to build the roster during the year

The year before they didnt sign anyone in free agency and instead of resigning McCarthy or firing him they made 2024 into a lame duck season

just two really bad years by the front office and the team has no direction
 
every team that is in it are not afraid to sign players, jones are more concerned about saving a damn buck
 
Kind of hoping the Eagles just go ahead and win next week and put me out of my misery before we play the 10-4 Chargers. I want the Eagles to collapse and I want Dallas to go on a run for the ages, but the realist in me knows there's zero chance of that happening, even if there's technically a 1 percent chance.

Now, when the Eagles do make the playoff as the East champion, I want them to be absolutely demolished. At least give me that.

I seriously don't believe it's that. Look at the contracts they are willing to give to their own free agents.

What the Joneses did was decide after the Brandon Carr signing back in 2012 (?) that you can't get enough bang for your buck with expensive free agents. They decided it would be better to fill gaps in your roster with cheap players who might outplay their contracts and then get the long-term repairs in the draft.

The problems with that philosophy are that most cheap players are cheap for a reason, you can't hit on every draft pick and other areas fall apart while you try to slowly build through the draft.

I'm trying to focus on having fun watching my team and not expecting anything, so for me, it was just more fun watching a defense with Parsons coming off the edge. I would have preferred we kept him even if the outcome would have been the same (which I believe it would have with this DC).

That said, I'm happy to have Quinnen Williams, but like Parsons, he can't make up for all the holes in the defense and in the scheme. Fans have a tendency to blame our top players for not doing enough instead of understanding that, as the great Emmitt Smith once said, those players are diamonds surrounded by trash.

i said it earlier, jones took the season away because his feelings were hurt. You don't trade away the best player on defense a week before the season starts you created a distraction for this team when it wasn't needed

I don't know....Nate Thomas flashed @ times. Think his conditioning was a factor. When he plays fundamentally sound he's not bad. Concerning he couldn't play through some pain with his shoulder.

I think our season was over before that trade. We hired a Cover-3 zone defensive coordinator for a team with man cover corners. We didn't use free agency to fortify the defense, so in order to make the middle of the defense stronger, we traded away our best pass rusher and weakened our pass rush.

I agree with you that the trade was done because of hurt feelings but I just don't think we were going to succeed this year defensively no matter what. We grabbed a square peg in Eberflus for a round hole. Our pass rush would have been better with Parsons, but teams would have gouged us up the middle and our corners still wouldn't have fit this scheme.

Parsons and the pass rush gave you something on defense to build around now its the middle, so you traded one strength for another and created one hole for another. Thats just bad management. Overall you arent getting any better.

I say start a petition to get him and his goofy son to get the hell out of football operations.
 
8-8-1 is a fitting record for this team, they aren't good and their coaches aren't good enough mask the holes they have.

Good point.

Only "realistic" chance of playoffs was the wildcard route as Philly's schedule is just too soft to expect a collapse and that "realistic" chance vanished with a loss to Detroit. I think most of the players realized that the season was over last week and thus that is why you saw the don't care attitude tonight, too many players thinking about where they are going to take their wives and girlfriends on vacation when the season ends in a couple of weeks.

So, if playoffs are officially done, then a loss is the best thing for draft position.:thumbup:

Pickens has played himself onto the tag after these last two games, no way in hell I am giving him a long-term deal with a huge signing bonus.

Besides, I doubt Pickens is going to resign here anyways since he has the same agent that Parsons does and we know how that went, Jerry refused to even talk to the agent. Dont see how you can ghost Parson's agent when he represents Pickens as well and think everything is going to be just great.
