Jerry has no idea how to build a team

Jerry and Stephen Jones were the only two people surprised by the Cowboys season.

Saying the team fell short of expectations is the biggest clue that they really had no clue.

The team actually met the expectations everyone else had for them. But because the Jones thought they built a contender, they’re legitimately surprised.

They are continually surprised that their plan does not work going on year 30.

Jerry Jones has been awesome for the NFL. He has made millions and millions for owners, the media and even all the players. But Jerry is too stupid to win as a General Manager.
Jerry 's carefully worded press conferences after each and every game, has loooooong ago left the station.
Jerry has no idea how to build a team. He sure knows how to build a marketing brand.
2026 is coming and more of the same. This franchise has already been eliminated from the 2026 season as it was in 2025 but my fellow Dallas fans mocked/ridiculed for stating the obvious.

Will McClay has been POOR the past 5 years. This team has zero depth and it is showing on the field.
This franchise has spent so much resources on OL / DL. And because of this, the secondary ( LB, CB and Safety) has really suffered.
And overpaying the QB! :banghead:Some of that money could be used to pay for better defensive player.

Jimmy Johnson was the last coach he allowed to run all football personnel and draft, trade his own players. Since Jerry's been doing it, 30 year disaster.

We can only hope that when JJ has gone, SJ well do a better job, it's all we have :(

I read on another thread that Jerra hired Eberf____ before hiring Shotty the Head Coach... Is that Right?

I haven’t read through the whole thread yet but the first thing that popped in my head when I saw the title “Jerry doesn’t know how to build a team” is this is true but to take it a layer deeper. Jerry doesn’t know how to build a front office that knows how to build a team.

We all know the story. Jerry hired Jimmy and then Jimmy got the players via trade and plan B free agency and we won back to back titles. Jimmy left because of egos and Barry won with the remnants of Jimmy’s team. Jerry has failed miserably since then. I think it’s twofold
1. Jerry won’t hire a Alpha male personality in the front office(including coaches) which leads to :
2. Jerry has failed to put together a front office (including coaches) that is capable of building a team. But Jerry won’t change the FO dynamics due to problem #1.

Jerry is too emotionally insecure to be successful on the football field. I keep saying this but our only hope is Jerry passes and Stephen hires a different FO and coaches or there’s a scandal that forces the Jones clan out if the NFL. I keep saying the scandal idea because I’m trying to talk it into existence because I haven’t seen any that Stephen is more emotionally mature than his narcissistic dad. So all I want for Christmas is a scandal.

and if i was allowed to build the team, I guarantee i could have the same amount of conference championship appearances in the last 30 years as jerry.
There's a 98.2% chance that any person on Earth would do better than Jerry has given the same absolute control for 30 years. A coin flip used to make every decision would also be highly likely to outperform Jerry in that same time period. I'm not making this up. Math geeks ran the numbers last year.

Jerry has built the worst defense the franchise has ever seen from a points allowed perspective 3 time in the last 6 seasons assuming that the current defense breaks the team record (they only need to allow 20 more points in 2 games to do so).

the only reason we have had good offenses was lucking into Romo and Dak, otherwise we would be the Browns or the Jets
We are the Browns already from an NFC standpoint. Haven't won a divisional round game in 30 years. The next longest drought is Chicago at 15 years which means the Cowboys are twice as bad as any other NFC team when it comes to winning a divisional round playoff game the last 30 seasons.

The Jets have actually won a couple of divisional round games since Y2K, unlike the Cowboys so it is an insult to the Jets to say that the Cowboys are equivalent to them. The correct way to phrase it is to state that the Jets have been almost as hopeless as the Cowboys in the 21st Century.

The NFL does not need the Cowboys to win.

Jerry undermines his coaches and players with his presence. He is the Dallas Cowboys. Every other football team is a company making transactions. Jerry has made the Cowboys a country club/fraternity since the mid 90s. What player on this roster would do what Emmitt did against the Giants and throughout the playoffs on a separated shoulder. What player would come back and play in the Super Bowl after a severe concussion like Troy. I mean Clowney and Guyton could not suit up for the most important game of the season against the Lions while St. Brown played with a similar injury. Sad……
