If you could reverse one infamous play in Cowboys history?

I'm guessing it depends on generation, but the play I would most like to see never happen is the fumbled FG snap by Romo. Just seemed so dang unfair. Was awesome watching Romo come out of nowhere and put some of that preseason spunk in the regular season. The team had been so bad at QB since Aikman's retirement, and even in Aikman's last years.

That was Parcells last season and he has gone on record saying he thought there was potential for Cowboys to go far that year with Chicago as their next opponent. Would have also set us up for a Parcells vs Belichick Super Bowl. We had a top 10 offense and defense and a disciplined team that was coached well. Biggest weakness that year was the pass defense which wouldn't face a great QB until Brady in the SB and that was the year Brady had an awful core of receivers forcing them to get Randy Moss the next year.

I also have a lot more faith we could stop Seattle with one minute left versus Aaron Rodgers and Green Bay which always seemed to have an answer. Even though there are definitely some candidates on the Landry/Staubach years, or other Romo/Dak years, considering our 30 year drought, this is the one infamous play I would most like to see taken back and given another shot.

Yeah the Romo fumbled snap would be my answer. That team was a lot of fun that season.

The 2016 Rodgers 3rd and 20 pass would be right up there as well. As weird as it sounds the 2007 playoff game against the Giants the Amani Toomer 50+ yard TD I would love a do over on. Granted it was so early its hard to make that a top choice, but that will forever be a game I think the Cowboys should have won and would have 9 out of 10 times.

A friend who has since passed used to lament that one all the time. It’s not mentioned much. Arguably much more miraculous than the catch itself.

Yes actually I believe Witten had a first down, second Parcells should never had his starting QB as a holder, the ball was right out of the wrapper and still slick and that caused a rule change the next year, the 12th man won that game. For me Jackie Smith dropping the TD in that he SB or the no call PI against Pearson as White drove them down the field after the catch were tough but it’s always that way in big games.

Two honorable mentions that likely won’t be….the Murray fumble in the game more known for another play that didn’t matter as much as some want to believe,

The other is a bit more personal. Home game vs KC in the Garrett era. KC scores a TD at the end of the half because we decided to not bother to defend the play. I had people at my house, and like a child I refused to watch the second half, when they of course kicked the crap out of KC just to spite me. I know it. I’m that important….my ma says anyway.

The drop by Patrick Crayton. Would have gotten us to the NFC title game. All set up for us. I was teen overseas during the catch. I heard it on the radio only. Was sick to my stomach.

Better yet, the play AFTER the catch where Danny White completed a dime on a rope to Hill on a deep crosser. If not for a pinky tackle by Eric Wright the safety, that's a walk off game winner. Then no one is talking about Dwight Clark. Danny would be considered much higher ranked in lore, as he should be.
