2025 gave us the most points ever surrendered in a Cowboys season. So…In your opinion, what was the BIGGEST reason our defense was so bad in 2025?

I picked a lack of talent. This was the least talented defensive roster I’ve seen in a long time. (Getting Q Williams is a step forward) Eberflus was awful and having 4 DCs in 5 years doesn’t help. But it’s hard for even good coaching to work miracles without some talent.

It's difficult to build even an average defense when Jerry spends so much of the cap money on the offense. He remains obsessed with drafting an offensive lineman in the first round every year lol. Parcells built a great defense here and it might be our last great defense. Jerry and fatso have no clue how to build a championship caliber defense and they don't seemed to have learned anything the past three decades.

The fact that so many think Eberflus was a bigger issue than talent is concerning but not surprising.

Belichik in his prime could have this crew and they’d be middle of the pack at best.

Eberflus sucked but until we get a few great defenders, we wont see a championship level defense

I'm not surprised. The knee jerk reaction to any failure on this forum is that the coach sucks. Think of how many people were screaming for Dan Quinn's hide after they got blown out by GB.

No coach can be blamed for issues caused exclusively by our front office.

Just name the players on this D that played and compare them to other teams starters.. how many players would be regular starters on, whats fair, 50% of other teams hell ill go 30% and you would be hard pressed to find 5.... so you have 5 NFL quality starters on an NFL Defense... yup that coach was the main issue.. sorry its hard to see that for me and im good with eber being fired...

Asbsolutely. He's the scapegoat for Jerry not getting NFL quality players on Defense.
