Why there is zero hope for this organization

of course its a game. not to be confused with real life.
its entertainment, the culmination of which is your favorite team winning, which we don't.
that as a fan doesn't make me happy not to get to experience the fun and elation of championship
As you wish how long have you been a cowboy fan

After the Green Bay playoff loss Jerry Jones could of done a few things:

1. Fire McCarthy, get another Head Coach in, realize the way they've been doing things wasn't getting them over the WC/Divisional Hump.
2. Keep McCarthy, and realize the way they've been doing things wasn't getting them over the WC/Divisional Hump. Need more talent from free agency, bigger trades etc.
3. Do nothing.

They picked #3. Wasted a year of the prime of CDL, Parsons, Dak etc...
Then he goes with Schotty, and only until halfway of the season do they try to "Amari Cooper" the defense by trading a 1st for an impact player.

The actions or inactions in March will show if there's any hope for the organization.

Me too that's the reason I have watched season after season and realized that this is gonna never go all the way. my expectations haven't been Super Bowl for a long time. I am not unhappy because my expectations have not made me unhappy. I follow two other teams also now. One of them probably will be in the super bowl.
Since the hiring of Schotty maybe things will change I don't know.

There are three (3) glaring reasons why I threw in the towel a long time ago, and you should too if you were smart....and for the sake of your sanity and overall well being.

1. Refusal to go out and sign the best HC available....there is no salary cap on coaches....no need to say more.

2. REFUSAL to use Free Agency other than for Dollar Tree trash....the draft and development is only 2/3 of the equation.

3. Stats Prescott....under .500 against teams out of the NFC East after TEN Seasons. The following is why you should either quit watching or quit caring, so read closely and BE HONEST WITH YOURSELVES.

SCENARIO: We know that it takes either 3 or 4 games to win a Super Bowl depending on if you get the 1 seed or not...having said that, when have you EVER seen Stats win 3 or 4 games IN A ROW against top competition??? I'll answer for you....NEVER....and he NEVER will.

Bottom line is that NOTHING is going to change until Booger and Chuckles are both out of the picture....it seriously could be another 20-25 years....not kidding folks.

I fully agree with your last paragraph. And as depressing as it is this is to me the harsh truth. Its incompetence paired with other priorities than football or the sport itself. and you are right, this is nothing to kid about this is just reality. I doubt the crap we had to endure the last 25 year will somehow magically change the next 20 years. Not unless the ownerage changes. And i mean the last name Jones not one persona alone.

With 1 and 2 i disagree to a degree. I doubt that our FO doesnt try to get good coaches or players. And i too doubt that the problem is that they are cheap. Money is one problem - i agree.

But another thing that changed drastically in the last 25 years is: Dallas is not the top adress anymore good coaches or players want to spent their careers at. Not if those are into the sport itself and want to win something meaningful. It is not like in the 90ties where Jerry could snap a finger and everybody came running. No this is not about money. Good people dont want to come here anymore. Just because they know what to expect here. Nobody throws away a great career.

And i dont see how this will ever change with the Joneses running the show. They wont find magically some competence and as good as their businessplan is working out they wont change their character and philosophy.

Well what is left then? Id say enjoy the sport. Spent more time watching good teams. You still can be and are a dallas fan if you do so, but one that understands what times we live in.

Not true....I'm only here to save lives that need saving. I honestly do not lose ONE SECOND of sleep over anything Cowboys anymore....and it's a wonderful existence.
Amen I quit caring a long time ago. I realized when they paid Dak this was not a serious organization.

My answer to the question: Mediocrity and bargain basement mentality will bring mediocrity and bargain basement results.

Sam Darnold is a perfect example of a mid QB who, if surrounded by players on both sides of the ball, actual coaching and an actual GM, can do in the NFL. Points 1 and 2 are no-brainers, and point 3 is well, Dak. As much as he hasn't been "it", he also shouldn't have been put in the position to have to be. When your franchise expects him to do it all, it fails like it has when it matters. I am as critical as most about Dak, but we all know where the problem lies with this franchise. and it isn't ending soon
That's the knock on this FO. They draft a QB in the 4th round and expect him to win a SB. They load up on offense players to help Dak and completely ignore the defense for years. They finally have good 1T's but nothing else.

Ah Here comes Jerrys calvary.
Yes, anyone with an ounce of optimism is merely Jerry’s puppet (even if they’ve said 1,000 times that Herry is the first-through-twentieth problem Dallas has).

It never ends.

And the word is cavalry. Calvary is where Jesus was crucified (although many would love to crucify Jerry, so maybe that’s not so wrong, after all)!

Pretty much everybody that covers the team.

Jerry even said it during the year end speech. It's a group choice. However, he contradicts himself by saying schotty had a say in eberflus hire when eberflus was hired prior. The contract was signed. Schotty could have griped all he wanted but Jerry wasn't going to pay eberflus for a year and not play and turn around and hire another DC.

Nothing in the last 30 years has shown that Jerry lets the HCs make their own OC/DC hires. Jerry is the ultimate decision maker here.

You arguing otherwise is just trolling at this point.

The local media believes that Schotty has a lot of say on this decision this time.

What concerns me about that is the players he vouched for and brought in weren't up to the task. I hope the selected DC is the best choice between those available and not just a buddy.
