In hindsight, should the Cowboys have kept Demarco Murray

You left out us taking Fantastical Football Unicorn Taco Charlton over TJ Watt. Also Julius Jones over Stephen Jackson. That worked out well also.
 
Murray made too many business decisions running out of bounds, instead of staying in bounds for extra years and 1st downs.
Zeke ran over, or through them, or hurdled them.

They did they right thing. And seemed he did not last too long after he left.

Well the offense revolved around Murray, and had they got past GB they might have gone all the way.
But their cheapness ruined it , and they let him walk, and then had to change their offense which wound up
getting romo hurt. And that was the end of that team.

once murray got paid he just stopped playing. after that also being in kellys offense was a awful fit for his talents he was a straight line runner while kelly wanted a running back that had to run outside zone runs.
 
All I know is Stephen Jones did him wrong.......they ran him to the ground with 449 touches and had NO intention of resigning him. Even after Romo, Witten and Garrett begged Stephen for the sake of continuity within the offense. Those saying he was done, it's not true. He probably still had a couple of good seasons left. Hell, he gained over 1200 two years later with the Titans.

To me, this was more about Romo coming off the best season of his career coz Murray's rushing year. I will always believe Murray's return would have made us a strong contender for the big dance.

Hindsight is 20/20

I'm talking about every move we did or didn't make, not just Murray.
 
If you recall at the time, they didn’t place value on the RB position because the OL was so good.

But they had an awful season due to losing Romo, then suddenly they do a 180 and use a top 5 pick on a RB.

They change philosophy like underwear, likely based on whoever got into Jerry’s head most recently, and have no true plan or direction and never have.

Still wondering why this doesn’t work.

Signing or not signing Murray, who I loved is the not the reason we couldn't get to the NFC Championship game. Instead, the focus should be on why our front office didn't build a championship defense that could have stopped:
  1. (2007) Seattle's offense after Romo's fumbled snap on FG. If we could have stopped them, there was time for one last drive and Romo was on fire that game!
  2. (2014) Green Bay's offense and a hobbled Aaron Roger after Dez caught the ball with almost 5 minutes left. Our defense could NOT make a critical stop to give Romo and the offense a chance. Of course Dez caught the ball, but fans act like there was 10 seconds on the clock. It was still a winnable game if our defense showed up.
I do miss Murray and loved his style of running as well as the late great Marion Barber III.
 
I remember after the GB game (where i thought his fumble was more of a reason we lost than the dez catch), i thought, they will sign him and can draft all D and we can go further in the playoffs. Well, that didnt happen.
