Yes, it was maybe 4 years ago, or 5 or 6 can't remember. I think we played Jacksonville, as one of their home games. But there were still more Cowboys fans. So like a home game for Dallas.

EDIT...it was November 9th 2014 against the Jaguars. I was way off.

European and Latin American pro soccer leagues did not expand into the United States. A pro soccer league now exists in the United States. And is slowly, but surely, gaining in popularity.

The NFL plans to be the only major professional football league in the world.

A few greedy European football leagues got completely roasted for trying to play games in foreign countries.

Sadly the rise and rise of the English Premiership is scaring the other supposedly "top" leagues to explore any options to keep up with England.......it's like a black hole sucking in everything in it's path.

Like the NFL, its a cash grab, nothing else.

Sad that so many sports have gone this way.

What always cracks me up is that the league is trying to go global but keeps force feeding international fans the Jaguars.

Also that bizarre American pronunciation of Jaguar that doesn't fly here in the UK.

Outside the US, the two biggest foreign fan bases are located in Canada and Mexico. Shouldn't the leagues focus be on those two countries?

There is no way American Football will ever be anything but a small curiosity in Australia. It's up against Australian rules football, rugby, cricket and soccer.

Well, Melbourne is about 16 hours ahead of us. So, I would imagine they would play at around 10 p.m.'ish the day before in our time zone??

As I write this it is Monday, 1:25 PM central and in Melbourne it is 6:25AM Tuesday. Flight time is about 22 hours.

The NFL growth in the U.S. can only go so much higher and I understand why they would look to expand international games to become more of an international brand.

-For players one would think the added travel isn't attractive, but the chance to expand your fan base, new marketing opportunities, and more revenue = higher salary cap is just a time investment to earn more money.

-As a fan losing home games to other locations, and possibly higher ticket prices for growing popularity doesn't seem as exciting.

I get what they're after but I feel good for the ex-pats and military who can catch a live familiar American game without having to cross an ocean to see it. I would suggest having the Australian game as a Week 1 Thursday night kickoff if they can make the times work.

The teams are obviously on a rotational basis.

If the teams depended on voluntary participation, then I fear the Cowboys would be playing overseas every single season.

The opportunity to expand their fanbase and viewership would be just too lucrative for Jerry to pass up.

I dont think jerry is a fan of international games.

The league will have the Cowboys play in Australia on Saturday right before their Thanksgiving day game.

Following a Monday night game on the road on the East coast.

I think it's okay to have a game or two a year over in London or Mexico. Or to mix it up maybe and have a game in Berlin or Madrid, instead of London, since these distances aren't significantly more than traveling between the East and West coasts. But I don't like this steady increase in venues across the globe. What locations are next... Cairo, Tokyo, New Delhi, and Singapore? Most of the people who will be watching these games live at the stadium won't even be Americans or football fans. I don't think the locals are going to start buying up jerseys and other items of teams for a game they likely don't even understand.
More importantly, the detrimental effect on players due to jet lag and playing on unfamiliar surfaces.

I’m not asking for it, but you would think if the NFL wants to showcase the brand internationally, they’d schedule marquee teams like the Cowboys, Chiefs, et cetera.

Internationally, people know the Dallas Cowboys like Americans know Manchester United even if they don’t follow euro football/soccer.
