Why not? The Eagles did it in one year. They signed Zach Baun, who was a low-tier free agent, and turned him into a Pro Bowler. You don’t need top stars on defense—just better coaching.

That'd be nice if it only took one year. I think it'll take at least 2 off-seasons to get the defense to be an average or possibly better. Unless Jerry doesnt use fa to upgrade the talent then it'll take longer.

The player has the power to block any trade. Just wait it out. Come mid-July it’s a moot point. He can’t be traded or even sign a deal with Dallas. Everyone, then, sees what happens,

Pickens is more likely to not be heard from until a deal is done. He will let his agent handle the negotiations. David learned a thing or two from the Micah negotiations. The Cowboys are under pressure to get this deal done. All Pickens has to do is chill out.

That doesn’t mean that Jerry won’t do his dirt.

He’s already setting it up saying how badly GP wants to he here and how much he loves his teammates and coaches.

That’s just so Jerry can later say “well, I’m with the fans on this one. I really thought he wanted to be a Cowboy”, as he offers him well under market value.

GP is the number one free agent in the NFL and we have him on our team, every year we talk about how we want the Cowboys to go get a star free agent.
