Schefter: Cowboys will put franchise tag on Pickens

He was a top 5 receiver in the league last season. 2nd team all pro. Won numerous games for a bad Cowboys team. You seem to forget that.
Not at all. But probably wouldn’t have had that opportunity without Dallas and our offense.

Regardless the bigger deal is what was our intentions going in giving up a 3rd and 5th for him?

The thing that would piss me off is not the tag itself. It's that they won't reach out to start negotiations.
I am not sure they can at this point. May need to wait until the league year starts.

:lmao2:
fans.

A reporter makes a claim, and fans find ways to rag about Jerry.

You dont know that and not sure how you can say they have no intentions of attempting to sign him
They've made literally no effort to re-sign him, despite Jerry constantly talking about how much he wants to re-sign him and how they have the money to do so.

Jerry is on the haters' mind 24/7

Weather report
68º and sunny ..... Jerry sucks

It is 9:37 CST .... Jerry sucks

It will be cloudy today ... Jerry's fault.

It is not time to do so yet.
Many other things they need to do.
And may not be able to yet anyway. Not sure what the rules are. Probably not until the league year starts.
If he was under contract, the could restructure or renegotiate. Not sure how it works if he is a teams own FA.

The Cowboys made a good trade but don’t overate it because it was for one season. Pickens is at least a first round pick now. Also look at the reasons we had to give up trade assets for Pickens in the first place. Tolbert a 3rd round pick and Mingo a 4th round pick. Bad drafting/ bad trades. We actually gave up far more assets for Pickens then a 3rd and 5th round picks.

LOL, LOL ......I said this to a friend of mine but Jerry ain't been the same since Parsons was traded. Don't know what it is but he ain't the same.....I believe that (lol).
It makes me feel like I’m getting sucked in sometimes lol but I do feel something’s changed.

You do have to have the cap space to sign him.right now we don’t. After new league year begins we can create the space. You can make a verbal deal now and who knows if they’ve had conversations

Good point.

This is not smart. The team does not need help at WR when they already have a legit #1 in Lamb. Let Pickens walk. Use the money to shore-up DL, LB and DB…that is where the help is badly needed.
If Jerry is content to sign Pickens at least use the Non-Exclusive Franchise Tag; let other teams set the market giving Dallas option to match, or refuse and reap some high draft picks.
This team needs defense to be competitive, not another temperamental WR.

Time will tell . But it appeared initially the trade was more about making a run last year.

Uh, the offseason has technically not started so let's wait until that happens
