How would you musically rate this year's Super bowl halftime show

This year there were two shows you could watch the show at the stadium with bad Bunny or kid Rock's show.

I don't speak Spanish so I watched kid Rocks show I thought it was musically pretty decent definitely very watchable.

I would give it a seven and a half out of 10.

Haven't seen the other show yet
Give your thoughts what show did you watch and what did you think of it.
No politics just rate it musically
 
I give it a big fat ZERO and I didn't even watch it.
I didn't watch the better talent on the alternative halftime show either.
 
Yeah you know I really think the NFL needed to read the room on that one we're not playing the game in South America.

I really think we could have used some music that was geared a little more towards the United States of America.
 
It was ok, it would've been a little better if he performed his act if the SB were in Miami as they have that type of flavor.

I couldnt understand and it looks like Bad Bunny was talking smack. The first 5 minutes the beat was cool, vibe was cool, but it went on for about 20 minutes watching with the family. No one knew a word, lol.
 
Bad Bunny was a good show aestheticly. The wedding was really cool. Never been a fan of reggaeton though, although it seemed more accessible than what my old roommates used to play lol. The language barrier has never really bothered me. I had some Gipsey Kings back in the day, and went down an 70's Iranian rock rabbit hole not to long ago
 
Musically a B. Bad Bunny is a talented artist.

Set and production was absolutely an A+. It looked cool, it looked expensive, it was exceptionally well done.

I enjoyed it. It seems like most people who didn’t already decide they weren’t going to like it enjoyed it.

Bringing out Lady Gaga and Ricky Martin was pretty cool.

Wrong. The Bad Bunny show was a train wreck. I seen the replay. If that song was translated into English it couldn't have been aired.
I'm no Kid Rock fan but at least he's a true patriot.

Kid Rock's show was and next years show will be better.

I haven't watch any of the super bowl halftime show in years. There was ZERO chance I was watching one second of Bad Bunny. What a joke. I wonder what Jay-Z will come up with next that I won't watch. G-D Goodell.

What replay did you seen? What song of Bad Bunny’s are you referring to specifically?

I thought the production and storytelling of Bad Bunny’s halftime show was stellar. The camera work was great. The dancing was great, the props were great.

Anyway, as far as lyrics go -

“Young ladies, young ladies, I like 'em underage see. Some say that's statutory, but I say it's mandatory! - Kid Rock in “Cool Daddy Cool”

“The Olsen Twins. Why is every guy in America waiting for these chicks to turn 18? I mean, you know what I'm saying? If there's grass on the field, play ball!” - Kid Rock when the Olsen Twins were 14 freaking years old

I get artistic taste varies, and I’m glad you enjoyed the safe space halftime show but calling it a “trainwreck” just because you decided not to like it before it even aired is just lame. It went smoothly and the production was stellar.

As far as being a “patriot” goes - here’s my opinion thoughts -

Bad Bunny is from Peurto Rico, from a poor family, a truck driver father and schoolteacher mother, and he honors his culture.

Kid Rock grew up in a wealthy family with a dad who owned multiple car dealerships in Michigan, on a property with an apple orchard and horse ranch, but he cosplays as some sort of good-old-southern-boy in order to pander his music to people who are satisfied with the most basic and boring and unimportant and uninteresting music available - room temperature IQ level lyrics about drinking beer, loving America, screwing underage girls and being a fake cowboy tough guy.

So in my opinion, the “alternative” halftime show was a train wreck. And yeah, I watched it.

The part where that guy with the acoustic guitar sang something like “I just wanna kiss my fish, I just wanna drink beer” was pretty entertaining.

Well, this thread isn't long for the world anymore. Weird to see staff participating in helping it getting closed though. I can't rate the shows because I don't watch halftimes no matter if there's a music performance or not. I use it as a break.
 
After having a chance to watch both shows to be able to properly critique it I still can't properly critique it because I didn't grow up listening to Spanish music.

If I grew up somewhere in South America watching soccer games I would probably really be able to appreciate bad bunnies show. I didn't so I might as well have been listening to a Japanese or a Russian musician.

But being I'm an American who grew up in the United States all my life and watched American football not soccer listened to country music and rock and roll.
I have to say what I expected to hear and see was a show like turning point turned out.

Hey maybe the NFL is trying to appeal to South America for more viewing audience maybe that's why they did this.

As far as who's more talented a lot of that depends on what you like to listen to.
And bringing Lady Gaga out for help sorry but that girl looked ugly as a mud fence not something I wanted to see on any show was far better in a star is born.

So in my opinion this is a sport born in the United States of America and the music should come from here to appeal to the audience that watches the games.
If the viewing audience in some other country becomes more than the viewing audience in the United States by all means use their music.
This isn't the Olympics this is football played in the United States of America and the music should reflect that so the major audience that supports the NFL can at least understand what it's listening to.
Kudos to kid Rock for giving us an alternative we certainly deserve that

What's weird is that you're posting and you didn't watch the halftime show.

I'm not trolling. There is 3 other people who have posted in this thread that haven't seen the show just like me. I wrote those first two sentences in my original post because I and everyone else could see how it was going. It had nothing to do with anything you posted though so I hope you don't think that. The last two sentences were for the actual thread question.

I don't really think the thread was going anyway there was nothing political or wrong going on.

I just think if you're celebrating a purely American game bred in the United States of America that it would only make sense to have your halftime show in a language that the people of your country understand.

And after watching the show it seemed like there was a lot more talking through the songs then there was actual singing.

I'm sorry but bad Bunny is no Roy Orbison.
 
After watching it again to try and get a better handle on it it seemed like Ricky Martin was a much better singer than bad Bunny who seem to just talk his way through all the songs.
It's hard to tell if he's a Spanish rapper or if he's commentating on a bullfight.
The guy just really doesn't use his voice to sing.

Ricky Martin was a sharp contrast and I think would have made a much better halftime show.
