If Jerry would have just taken his dak glasses off and traded him when there was a deal dispute, the broncos could have rebuilt the whole defense and roster. Seahawks did it with Wilson while he was still hot, and cashed it in wih a dominant defense and roster . They are Super Bowl Champs now.
We have seen how a mediocre QB like Darnold is good enough to get you a ring. Darnold cost the seahawks 13.4 million in 2025. Too scared to look up the Dak cap hit , ( looked it , 53.4 mill ) !!!! for what ? a losing season .:(

Yup.

At some point you have to move on.

It’s going to take never-been-done-before NFL history to occur for Dak Prescott to get to, let alone win, a Super Bowl with the Cowboys at this point in his career.

The odds are not in the Cowboys favor at all.

It’s infinitely more likely for Dak to win a Super Bowl with another team and the odds of that are astronomically low, but at least that scenario with other QBs have been done before.

The Cowboys are no longer risk takers. They are the ultimate bean counters, preferring comfort over the unknown.

The time to of moved on from Dak was before that huge deal. However, I also think ownership believes what they say, and think they are truly around the rim. Shipping off Dak would of meant more emphasis on finding that next QB, which is obviously hard to do, and free agency is for the devil, so they couldn't sign a Mayfield or Darnold.

Dak is a top 7 QB

This whole team should have been blown to shreds after the Green Bay playoff loss. That's when when any fan with common sense knew this core was never going to win. To end that year, every single game we needed to go our way, did. We fell into the 2 seed after Philly started off extremely hot and then fell off a cliff. And we still laid the biggest egg possible at home, on both sides of the ball. That game was so bad, it led people to believe that Jordan Love was one of the great QBs now. Hasn't won a playoff game since.

Dak and Lamb were on their way to having their contract expired. Should have traded both, get what you can and move on. Trade Diggs and Parsons. Back when Diggs had somewhat of value attached to him. But nope, we go ALL in with the same stale core and haven't sniffed the playoffs since. We could already be going into year 3 of a fresh start.

Expecting this core to change their stripes isn't a winning formula.

You’re trying to be nice! Dak has no chance of ever leading a team through the playoffs to a SB. Even Darnold had to make some throws in that SB early on that Dak just isn’t capable of making.

Absolutely stupid analysis. Get your head out of the sand. There’s no throw Darnold can make that Dak can’t.

Why do fans keep bringing this up when there is a no trade clause in his contract.

It would be great if he agreed. But that will not happen.
Unless for some strange reason he is benched.

Jerry is a gambler. Never sell when the market is bullish.

The guy already is great but will be even more elite next year. Go figure! Selling prices will skyrocket.

Just playing devil's advocate, as long as Dak doesn't take a pay cut (cause that is currently his main motivator since he's used to not getting anywhere near the superbowl) and he was going to a team like Denver, or Seattle, I'd have to think he wouldn't totally balk at the shot to win it all knowing the only thing truly holding him back (outside of his own flaws which aren't small in clutch moments) is going to be Jerry/Stephen. I think Seattle just proved that along with DLaw saying the whispers out loud.

This thread lets me know we have some miserable posters. Next up.....if we still had Cooper Rush, then we could have a Baltimore Raven defense (ala Ray Lewis-Ed Reed vintage) and be winning the SB.

I don't get the hate on Dak when he just put up MVP caliber numbers. If the defense wasn't historically bad we at least make the playoffs.
it is not about Dak or hate for him . he is a good QB , but he is not that good to equalize flaws in the roster. I remember how Elway took denver to the super bowl 3 times in the 80s and 90 with a roster with limitations .
The discussion is about moving a good QB while you can get the other parts to win a SB.

dont be so dumb. This is not about how good or bad dak is. It is about the fact the GM needs to get enough parts to win a SB. Otherwise it is status quo.

Elway couldn't overcome roster limitations. but the AFC so pretty weak during his time, and he had to play Joe Montana and the mighty Giants and Commanders. He had the #1 defense against Montana and Montana still slapped their defense silly.

We're gonna need to build a monster to duplicate the last Elway teams if indeed we stick with Dak. But it starts with a coach like Shanahan..... Shotty becoming Shanahan is a hard ask

Sure...

But when Wilson left (he wanted out), he was a Top 5 QB. We have a Top 5 QB but can't do anything..... so im guessing Top 5 QBs mean nothing
Honestly I don't see that. He left Seattle and was a bust. Dak is playing his best ball.
