Maybe Pickens and his agent will be happy to play under the franchise tag, and let him have another prove it deal.

What if the franchise tag is $28 million. Jerry offers $30 million, but Pickens and his agent want $32 million, or feel they can get $38 million in 2027 as a FA if not tagged again.

Pickens just had a great year. By any measure he is one of the best receivers in the NFL. He’s under contract, for almost another month. The Cowboys seem unsure what they want to do with him.

It’s this kind of uncertainty that gets you 30 years without a serious challenge for a Super Bowl. Emotional reaction to an unusually talented player laying down on a training table instead of dealing with the behavior and retaining the talent. What is the team trying to do? Do they even know?

Clark is due a huge bonus the middle of next month. I think it’s $13 million. They were aware of it when they acquired him. Any indication of a plan? Keeping him? Cutting him? I assume he’s one of the five to seven players Jerry suggested he’d turn the Parsons trade into. In four weeks the top running back on the Cowboys roster is Jaydon Blue. The team’s DC is the Eagles’ defensive backs coach from last season.

Does anyone believe they’ll be more aggressive in free agency than the Giants or Commanders? I bet they’re not. The team is a hopeless mess. Cowboys are staring at a 4th place finish next season.

No, I don't think the Cowboys will be aggressive in FA. I'll believe it when I see it.

When the Eagles traded for AJ. Brown, he too had 1 year left on his contract. They extended him immediately. Because that's what you do when you intend to keep a player. Since Brown had a cheap 4th year left, it made the cap hits smaller. Now that the Cowboys waited, any contract going forward for Pickens will be a higher cap hit by design. I know that the Jones boys know this. I just don't know why they keep doing it.

Actually, he committed to three to five players from the picks, including our two firsts via draft or trade *and* three to five free agents.

He was very specific that the trade was two separate and distinct routes to player acquisitions using two separate methods. Picks and then money. Each yielding three to five.

Four picks = Quennin + two TBD would satisfy the three to five

Micah Money = three to five TBD free agents

Prove it years are one year free agent deals where a player takes less years than they could get in a long term deal because they are betting on themselves and don’t want to be locked into a lower APV multi year deal.
