Great hire. Go look at his ability to play all 3 downs and his 3 down production in college and the pros. Played in Coryell offense for the Jonesboys, Chip Kelly tempo spread offense, and Mularkey Exotic Smash mouth offense in Tennessee.

I think you overexaggerate.

The guy was a medicore back. He for sure had some good traits like his blocking. But overall he was a product of a great OL. If you remember his running ability in open space was so bad that we all joked about it. "Left meat on the bone" was born because of Murray.

And essentially he had not more than one very good season with us that establishes his fame around valley ranch. That and also that we werent willing to invest in his replacement also further pushes the myth that he was a good back.

The fumble was bad in that game but for me has nothing to do with how i see him as a RB overall.

At first, I was like, huh? Murray played under Garrett. Then, I remembered it was McCarthy HC'ing the packers during our playoff loss to them. I wouldn't say he helped McCarthy's legacy. Big Mike had already won his one and only Super Bowl before then. The pack didn't do anything after that, and he sure didn't take the Cowboys to the promised land either. LOL

Murray was a thousand-yard rusher in 2013, Frederick's rookie season and before Martin was even drafted.

In 2011 Murray started behind a line of 5 guys that had never before played their position as a Cowboy. Although he only started 7 games, he rushed for 897 yards, 5.5 yards per carry.

Murray raised that offensive line and was a thousand-yard rusher before that O-line was even built.

In 2011, he averaged 5.5 yards a carry in Tyron Smith's rookie season when he was the RT and neither Fredericks nor Martin had joined the team.

That "meat on the bone" quote was by "Clepto" Joe Randle, his replacement. that guy didn't know his butt from a hole in the ground and he was the one ridiculed, not Murray.

After being busted for shoplifting underwear, he didn't last five games after Murray left. His blocking inability helped lead to Romo's injury and the Cowboys went 4-12 which led to the drafting of Zeke Elliott.

After spending five years coaching at the University of Oklahoma, DeMarco Murray is headed back to the NFL.

According to NFL Insider Jordan Schultz, the Kansas City Chiefs are hiring Murray as their new running backs coach. Matt Zenitz of CBS Sports was the first to report Murray as an emerging candidate.
