Our recent WR2's before Pickens

Noah Brown, Brandon Cooks, and Jalen Tolbert, how did these options work out for us?? With all the Pickens talk so far, having a great #2 WR is a special thing. Do we want to go back to options as these, or an option like Pickens, I think we all know the answer, but is it best for this team??? Please give your thoughts
I thought cooks did a pretty good job here.

DAL had a great offense, yet they only won 7 games. Take the Pickens money and spend it on defense so the offense doesn't have to average 32 points a game just to be in contention to win

The cap ceiling is rising by about 25 million in 2026.
Pretty sure we are in 2026 and it has already been accounted for. With that we are still basically $30M in the hole.

It may go up a few more million once finalized.

They have enough resources. It's a matter of will, smart choices and smart contracts. The problem with Jerry Jones is he refuses to really rebuild...preferring profitability over championships...which puts him off on really going all in. It's why he didn't want to pay Emmitt what he deserved in 1993. He was too concerned about the bottom line...failing to see that the hit he took up front to pay Smith would pay MUCH larger dividends on the back end with two more championships. Will this change for 2026? I have my doubts but this salary cap nonsense is like the boy who cried wolf. He should certainly be ignored at this point. He's been howlin' for thirty years now.
I don't pay attention to Jerry.

I just watch what he chooses not to do. Meanwhile well run teams like KC, restructure their QB early, with little to no media hype over it. Because that is just a normal business decision to make.

Hope is not a strategy and fans need to stop buying into it.

I can’t tell you exactly what the interest in Pickens would be, but I suspect every team in the league except maybe the Steelers would have some level of interest.

I have not heard that Pickens is willing to play on the tag. If that’s true please point me to where you heard that, if you recall.

The Cowboys want Pickens, and Pickens may well want to stay with the Cowboys but Pickens strikes me as a me first money guy. I would wager that either Jerry will vastly overpay Pickens or he is gone.
This may shock you, but majority of players are “money guys”. This aint the 70s anymore.

Wanting him and paying him are not the same thing.

That’s true but as in all things there are variances. I expect Pickens to be on the extreme end as was Micah.

Belt on Pickens:

-There's a chance that Pickens would be open to playing on the tag even if it would be a first for a David Muhlugeta client. Basically the whispers are Pickens still has to repair his rep around the league and if they tag him, it could see him sticking around on the tag.
corrected
Thank you for the post. That does sound more like conjecture or wishful thinking than actual facts, but Belt is someone that has some access to the team.

Pickens may not have any other options than to play on the tag.

I don’t care how awesome that Pickens is. If his per year average is in that $35M per year or more than that, I would ship him out before I would pay that for him. It’s just far too much of a cap hit, and limits what you can do on defense.

Let's not pretend last year was the only time Dallas scored nearly 30 points a game all season long.

I don't know that Pickens is our #2.

He only wants 30 million that's too low for someone that good and young

Yeah,
Like when Pickens checked out during the Lions game!
Pay him and expect 5-6 of those games a season!
He would have to stop that. I don't mind guys getting paid. But he would need to run until he pukes, even if he's not going to see the ball during the game.

That will be the only way I would pay him.
