Noah Brown, Brandon Cooks, and Jalen Tolbert, how did these options work out for us?? With all the Pickens talk so far, having a great #2 WR is a special thing. Do we want to go back to options as these, or an option like Pickens, I think we all know the answer, but is it best for this team??? Please give your thoughts

I've said it all along. What's the plan if Pickens leaves and Lamb or Flournoy gets hurt?

The Cowboys won't draft a WR high enough to fill Pickens shoes.

The failed Mingo experiment.

Same can be said if Pickens gets hurt though too

You say it and clearly I'm not listening, I don't even know why you put up with me!!

I agree what is your definition of high, and is there one worth taking in the first!! What about in the back end of the first maybe??

We will be back to square one if we lose Pickens. We gave up a first-round pick to acquire Cooper. Once he left, we were left scrambling for several years to find a viable replacement.

We also invested heavily in draft picks to replace him—picks that could have been used to shore up the defense.

Jonathan Mingo should also be added to the list of failures in the attempt to find a dependable No. 2 receiver.

I can't remember Brown being #2. But...anyway... I don't believe Brown was ever intended to be #2. Jerry left a void...and we had no choice. Bound to fail.

Not sure how Tolbert got picked 3rd. Apparently decent scouting and a good 2021 year. His scouting "cons" seem to have won the day. Certainlynever lived up to a 3rd round draft, right? Ya justnever know what pans out and what doesn't.

Cooks? Lotta kids around HERE said "Cooked" from day 1.

Not sure these are shining examples of NFL WR2. Certainly not with our personnel, scheme, coaching, and that other guy.

I don't believe Pickens is the thing keeping us from improving the team and a (more?) formidable offense. We already know what those are.

Losing Pickens will hurt the offense and specifically the run game. I don’t think people realize what a cheat code the run game is when you have a WR duo like Lamb/pickens both in the game.

Of the top 25 RBs with the most touches last year Javonte Williams averaged the 2nd fewest defenders in the box. The only player with fewer defenders in the box on their rushing attempts was chase brown in Cincinnati who also has a really strong pair of WRs to keep those safeties back.

Someone needs to bump Jerry and tell him to remember this

We need Defense, not another $30M+ WR.

Look back at 2023 season, Dak out performed last season.

It goes back to what we heard from DCs around the league, how hard it is to defend our offense with both WRs. Both WRs are big plays waiting to happen.........that's scary for any defense. It takes a special defense with the right scheme AND players to control it. Reminds me of the 2024 Eagles offense a bit.....trying to control Brown, Smith and Barkley.

I don’t think you can worry about backups though. What do we do if Dak gets hurt? Or Tyler Smith? Or Booker? Or Quinnen. I’m for Pickens but I want the unit to be a strength. But if they let him go my concern isn’t what would happen if someone gets hurt.

Pay Pickens.

Jauan Jennings is supposed to get 23 million a year

Alec Pierce 21 million

Romeo Dobbs 20 Million

30 million for Pickens is nothing really and the going rate right now. In a few years it will
Be a steal

The Cowboys didn't make the playoffs with Pickens and he was not making much at all. With all the holes in this team now they will have to pay Pickens 30 million and how do you think that will help the roster building?
A good GM should be able to find a solid WR2 and not have to pay two WR's over 30 million a year plus a QB at 60 million.

It's something with a team that has a list full of needs!! If we were a few players away ok

That's funny you believe that he'll take 30,

I believe his number is going to be 35 at least that's what he starts with I'm not keeping him for that that's what we've been saying all along and what is thank you Cougar for an 8th George Pickens thread!!! yay, we need more George Pickens threads,

Look George Pickens getting tagged that's about a $28.8 million tag If he wants to sign a long term deal for 30 I'd be OK with that but when he starts pushing it from there is when we're talking about trading the man yet there is no blank check most of these dynamic duos we're either out of the playoffs or we're one and done..

Philly 1 and done
Miami(they are releasing Hill), Dallas, MN(and they have a younger wr2) and Cincy OUT

Yes, rams got close and the 2 sb teams DO NOT Have two highly paid wide receivers, and I'm betting when the deals come up for those 2nd receivers, they're not going to keep them 30+.

These are anomalies. teams that are overpaying for two wide receivers, and most of the time it's not working out..

Saying get rid of George Pickens, I would love George Pickens to be here, but I'm really tired of talking about him but here we go again another thread I have to add to have been deal with this, Be real if it was only something near 30 ,that he was asking for, the deal will probably get done pretty quickly, but we all know he said my value has went up, I would love to be a cowboy but big BUT...

He's going to overvalue himself just like Parsons did, has the same agent ,he's going to push push push ,and he's going to get traded and the Cowboys will benefit from the trade; a 1st round pick and a lot of extra money, they will deal with it in the draft, and get another receiver ,and they will let them battle it out.

I've heard all the arguments I am not scared to allow Pickens to walk if it helps our defense and our left tackle in other parts of our team accelerate the mini- rebuild.

those with this ridiculous assumption that Dallas should just give him a blank check and pay him whatever he's asking is so ridiculous,

You know last time I checked we won seven games and a whole lot of those games that we lost look in the 2nd half and there wasn't a lot of scoring in the red zone, there was too many field goals, I'm not blaming Pickens for that,

i'm just saying we had this dynamic duo, and I realized that how bad the defense was but still we were not given pay George Pickens whatever he wants snapshot that's not what I saw..

Next don't matter wins matter and if we get more wins with a better defense, then they have to consider the trade.

If you add Hill back on the market ,and all those guys, wouldn't you consider just getting someone like them versus giving Pickens seven to $10 million more than them?

The Cowboys have to consider it one way or the other you try to keep him but at the same time you have to weigh in or something like this what it would mean to the team to add a 1st round pick and a lot of extra money to help in this rebuild.
