He has a lot on his shoulders to fix a mess that's been going on for several years. He's young, he appears extremely confident in his abilities which we all have to love! There's one thing to have confidence, and one thing to have support from those around you to get you what you need to make a successful defense.

Do you think he's able to make drastic changes to a poor defense in one year? Let's be realistic coog, we're not asking him to be #1 (if that happens, great!), but improvement is always a great thing. Getting key stops, showing improvement stopping the run, knowing our assignments etc! Please give your thoughts, i'm excited about the hire, are you???

Fixing the defense is up to Jerry and Stephen. CP will help. But.....

If meaning resources aren't spent getting more than bargain bin FA's CP's hands will be tied. Or we draft injured players or reach for players or draft offense CP's hands will be tied.

What is fix? A top 10 defense? Top 15? Not 30th? It depends. They are going to be bad on defense because there are too many holes.

You left out articulate, clean, bright, nice-looking, change-agent, leader of men, cultural, and well spoken.

Put some respect on the mans name.

I think top 15 if we get draft right is doable. That’s gonna also require a couple of FA signings on D. But as far as points the difference last season between dead last and 15 was 7 points less given up per game. That’s not a huge hurdle with 2 first rnd picks and a couple of FA if you get that part right

We don't need a top 3 Offense.

We need a top 10 offense, with a top 10 Defense.

Trade Pickens and commit to fixing the defense.

We don't need to win games 38 to 35.

We need to win games 24 to 17.

The FAs can't be JAGs though. They need a MLB, 2 DE/OLBs, CB, 2 Safeties. I think every one of those guys need to be a strong contributor too.

For Parker’s defense to be at least a middle of the road defense he needs 3 defensive tackles to be at the top of their games. Quinnen has got to get to All-Pro level again and Osa has to step his game up like he never has before. Clark has to be a solid rock that holds the foundation together.

EZ has to be the player he was in college coming off the edge. Glad he stopped the run but he was drafted to rush the passer.

Bland and Revel our the players that got Parker the job. He must make them a top corner duo. They have the talent let’s see what happens.

Defense is fixable and a mid-tier D should be good enough to get into the playoffs ala the LA Rams.

I personally consider this a 2 year project and should again go D in the 2027 draft.

Because there is a definite learning curve in CP's defensive responsibilities I look for the first of the year to be pretty tough and a lot oof hand wringing and moaning in biching here with that. The ability to read the offenses is huge in his D.

Its logical to believe incremental improvement is the best we can expect, but there is no timetable.

With the right draft picks, free agency and coaches we can go from terrible to a top 5-10 defense in a single off season. A quick search will reveal half a dozen recent examples.

HOWEVER, it not likely to make such a jump and just being middle of the road would be massive.

The good thing about being so bad is there is only one direction to go.

I've said for some time that Eberflus was so bad that you couldn't really tell which players were salvageable and which ones are not. He didn't seem to make too many players better...if any.

There are decent chances for a turnaround...though I'm not sure on the scale of what Quinn did in one year.

Geez. Seattle had the #1 defense and even they got their rear ends handed to them in the last two contests versus the Rams, where they gave up 1,060 yds total. IOW...if you don't have THE top defense (which the Rams do not) then you better bring a high powered offense (like the Rams) to the party...are they're not gonna let you in.

Defense wins championships these days when your defense is at or VERY near the top of the league...and even then it is no guarantee if your offense is trash...and that especially pertains to quarterback play.

Top 10 ain't gonna get it done, on either account. Dallas had top 10 units in 22' and 23'. Didn't even get close to the big show. They need to climb to where Seattle is...or damn close. Seattle had the #3 scoring offense to pair with it's #1 scoring defense. Cowboys have never had that combo since the 90s.

Maybe.

But all the 3-4 talk from his was disturbing.

Was a red flag. Not a 3-4 defense. Do we even have 4 LBs? 8/

We are a 4-2-5 D.

Gotta see what he does in camp.

No I don't. That's the problem today. We want it now. Yes I know about the 30 year drought but this defense is being installed and rebuilt. You watch if the defense isn't killing soon the boo birds will be screaming

That's very hard to see happening. Going to take at least 2 off-seasons to get to average imo. Dallas doesn't use FA or draft well enough for it to happen in one season.

I keep reading guys say this. OLBs in a 3-4 are former ends in a 4-3. You only nee two off the ball LBs in that scheme.

Our D was not balanced and you know it. Having a high statistical defense against a soft schedule is not impressive.

Yes he can and that should be the expectation. The defense is going to get flooded with new players this offseason and already has a legitimate centerpiece in Q.

Honestly going from a bottom defense to #23 year one isnt good enough. Realistically this we should expect some regression out of this offense, especially if we lose a player like Pickens...and even if we don't we saw regression as the year went on in 2025. The entire emphasis of this offseason should be to create a defense that can be a top 10 unit. You don't have seasons to chalk up as rebuild years when your QB is 33 years old. No excuse to not be all in on fixing the defense...The metrics show that preventing points influences winning more than scoring points. Defenses are still leading the way to championships.
