Stephen: Our offseason approach isn't changing

I am going to hold out some hope for a bit longer, at least into free agency and the draft. I will re-evaluate at that point.

In a sense he is right, the offense is in a pretty decent space....even with poor tackle play we put up some of the best numbers in the league and for the most part it looks like they are gonna run that back.

He does sense that the defense is a wreck and they really need to figure it out. In his mind, they have done things to shore up weaknesses in the past. In the past they have made moves in free agency....but not ones that cost very much or that will make much of an impact on winning. In fact, they kind of have decided to sign mediocre guys just to fill major holes so in the draft they can "go with the best available player, not be locked into taking the biggest need. That hasn't worked. The hope is that this year they will be more effective and actually spend some damned money on outside free agents.
That’s all we can

Reality is I am unsure if CP takes this job if Jerry says we are doing nothing but a few draft picks and it made him want the job

Position value is a real thing, despite what failed scouts like Bryan Broaddus will tell you. Also, you can't draft a WR when you already have two great ones and have multiple gaping holes at other positions just because he's clearly the best player on your board. There has to be a balance between BPA and need, and need should take at least slight precedence.

Any time we have had a situation where we feel like we're not very good, then I feel like we have always attacked it. There may have been times where we felt like we were good in a situation and we weren't the next year. And... so... we're wrong but you know. This particular time I think everybody's on the page where we need to improve.

1. You and your father have zero feel for the game.
2. You and your father attack any situation long after not fully assessed all issues.
3. You and your father feel good while being oblivious of what should make you apprehensive.
4. You and your father have been far more wrong for far, FAR too long.
5. You and your father may be on the same page, but that page got ripped out of this franchise's book three decades ago.

The follow-up should've been something to the effect of "Jerry has said his ways haven't been working" (or whatever the actual quote from Jerry was). Stephen should've been pressed to throw his father under the bus... Or something.
Well, as I’ve been saying for some time, I don’t get the impression those two are entirely on the same page, and they both like to hear themselves talk, hence fan confusion.

Yeah, shouldn't be a problem for the GM and the guy in charge of deals getting done to not be on the same page.

Stephen, how does it feel to be laughed at every day by this fan base. good thing your dad struck it rich or you would be at the local quick mart and still screwing that up.

He says that they need to improve and this is what people come up with.

Based on what?
His body language when asked about busting the budget.

I know you dont want to believe it and thats fine, but they will not be big spenders in FA.

He just told you they arent changing how they do business.

There are two ways all human beings tell the world what their intentions are:
  1. They verbally tell you. (“We’re all in”, “Busting the budget”, “We are evaluating everything”, to name a few)
  2. What they actually do supported by their actions.
Which one really matters?

Some short time into the future...when Stephen is talking about his father in the past tense and choking up about it...he is gonna say "I wish we could have given him one more Superbowl"...we all will know, that was never possible with the way they run this team.

Really? That's what he told us in that video clip?

Of course not, Stephanie. You guys are way too dumb to change anything, much less attempt to figure out what you're doing wrong.

So, let me guess, a TE in the 1st since we don't have a 2nd?

I'm getting very bi-polar about this off-season already..

One day I'm thinking.. well maybe things are changing.. maybe just maybe..

Then the next day.. what's the point.. things are going to be exactly the same as every other year.

arrrggg.. this team !
You don't gotta love pain to be a fan of this team, but it sure helps!
