Stephen: Our offseason approach isn't changing

Come on shabazz.

You know you want to mention it again.

Go ahead and let it out...
"This year just feels different."

Aaaaaaahhhhhhh
I reached my limit with that one.....gots to keep it fresh.

Thankfully there's a ton of material to harvest; from both the owner and the forum members.

Im currently working on my future thread titled ," Nicknames for the two LBs drafted"

Well not good news. I thought this franchise had reached tipping point. Maybe not
Anyone who did is doing it purely based on hope.

They moved swiftly in firing a franchise worst DC in Mike Nolan too. This has happened before. They have brought in a young mind before (Kellen Moore, Garrett).

It’s like people have a selective memory. Jerry is 80 plus years old. He isn’t changing. His son is a cheaper version of him who has no business in this sport let alone being in his position but daddy owns the team.

This is the same guy that came out and said Gurley was the floor for the Zeke negotiations. He doesn’t know how to fake it. He’s not smart enough.

Expect this off season to mirror last years. They will sign JAGs the first week just to say “ look at us doing stuff”.

No big name is coming, no relevant name is coming. A bunch of first round busts, or old vets. Then they will “build thru the draft” with their selling point being the 2 first rounders.

Mike Brown era coming up with Stephen. Hell, may already be there with how little they actually spend.
Somebody said they trade for players bc they don’t have to pay bonus money?
Signing bonus is paid up front at signing. Dallas from what OTC shows has traditionally done a larger signing bonus and restructure as they go, which is basically converting base into another signing bonus. Some teams use a mix of signing bonuses and then guaranteed option bonuses in future years that they could convert to a signing bonus if needed.
If I recall correctly, some of the option bonuses go with the player in a trade, only the signing bonus gets accelerated as dead cap.

I'm getting very bi-polar about this off-season already..

One day I'm thinking.. well maybe things are changing.. maybe just maybe..

Then the next day.. what's the point.. things are going to be exactly the same as every other year.

arrrggg.. this team !
I love this post!!!!! Lol they made us this way

It’s not like we’re in a “drought” or anything
I'm just shocked shocked shocked we haven't won more playoff games than we have! I'm confused about that in my Jerry voice

I'm right there with you. It's a real struggle not to become jaded. They make a statement saying one thing and then do the exact opposite. I guess we can expect the gaslighting to start after they finish the FA dumpster diving.

I can understand the “Jones-speak language”.

Translation: “We always do a good job in the off-season. We’ve just been unlucky. We do things ‘our way’ which is of course the right way. We are comfortable doing things this way because we are always comfortable with ourselves.”

What could possibly go wrong with a front office that does not hold anyone accountable for failure other than mid-level lackeys with no real authority?

I've got 2 already. Marshmallow Boy and the Man with One Leg. 2 guys destined to be Cowboys

Can not argue with any of these historically accurate facts.

So now its just another offseason game of waiting and seeing whether anything has truly changed or not.

Yep.

I think Stephen believes "his time" began around the time of the great Zack Martin-Johnny Manziel incident, or at latest around the McCarthy hire. To him, they've done a great job since then. In his mind, they've only had bad years because of injury or bad luck. He thinks they draft great, and his plan of letting FAs go for those sweet 5th round comp picks has been a total success.

That's why he famously put the "drought" in air quotes.
