Agree. They signed Osi because they had no idea they would trade Parsons, which would get them Clark and the ammo to deal for Q.

Usually the dead money hit is massive early on, even in a trade, but yeah it would seem as if it’s not the best allocation of resources, even though I think the DL is wise to invest heavily in. I’m just not sure on how it’ll all fit together and it’s tough to give this FO the benefit of the doubt.

How many times have we heard that we ‘don’t have the personnel’ to run the scheme the DC wants, then they spend 1-3 years acquiring those type of players, only to change DCs again?

Even without the Parsons trade, it was still a bad contract to begin with. Dallas could have gotten Josh Sweat for the amount of money they paid Osa. Josh Sweat had 12 sacks last season; Osa had only three. You should never give that amount of money—top-end pass-rushing money—to an underperforming defensive tackle.

They invested a TON to FINALLY get DT right. Does this scheme work in accordance with that?

Wouldn’t be the first time they invested serious capital in one position to fit a scheme only to change it a season later.

Agreed. I think he is closer to being cut than he is the starting lineup. He's just not an NFL talent. Good motor and someone I think everyone wanted to root for, but its clear that he's just not quite talented enough

The OLB they should be looking at is James Houston. I think he is the best fit for that position and our most underutilized pass rusher.

Honestly... I don't like Sam Williams as a player, and I don't want Dallas to resign him. But if you told me "the choice is either resigning Williams or giving his pass rush snaps to Liufau", I'd offer Williams a Parsons contract.

If anyone wants a look at Liufau playing a similar role just go watch the week 7 film against Washington. I believe all of his snaps that game came as a 3-4 edge. I just watched....didn't look too pretty.

Most of these regular linebackers are inside linebackers in a 3-4. DEs convert to OLBs in the scheme for a reason because regular linebackers don't have the length, strength or skills to regularly take on offensive tackles. They may have more speed, but good OTs can negate speed if that is all an OLB has.

I guess playing Liufau at OLB means that the staff doesn't think he can be an ILB. Might as well give him a shot at some spot.

I honestly think Perrion Winfrey should have been Osa’s replacement. I like Osa, but not for the amount we’re paying him. I think Winfrey is better than Osa when it comes to strength and power.

He is a bust and a wasted pick. He should have been a UDFA rather than a high draft pick.

Well they did that when DT was the clear weakness of the defense and didn’t want to get worse.

All the more evidence that there’s no real long term plan/philosophy in place (other than “keep ‘em talking”).

That’s how you end up with two first round guards and three 20m DTs with holes abound elsewhere. I mean really, how are these two idiots supposed to keep up with the younger and better minds in todays NFL?

EZ is a decent fit at rush 'backer. He's not the speed demon you usually want for the role, but he's very nimble, so I like him playing in open space.

Liufau, OTOH, is just unacceptable. He's not a guy you want edge rushing even in a rotational role. We will need to have someone else by Week 1, because handing Liufau 200 pass rush snaps would truly be a waste.

Osa is way overpaid for the amount of production he’s delivered. His contract is absurd, and the Cowboys’ front office was foolish to agree to it.

He makes the same as Clark and is about the same in performance

They drafted him because he had 17 sacks his last year

We’ll see if he can turn into something more than a 6-8 sack guy

When I heard they gave that contract to Osa, I just lost it.

Josh Sweat was there for the taking and would have been a perfect replacement for D. Law. Calling them fools and idiots is an understatement, yet they think they are smarter than everyone else.

Its been said that during the interview, he told Jones that hes watched every play of the 2025 season.
