The Fan on FA Sam Williams future as a Cowboy

That is a very fair take. Sam makes a ton of bonehead plays.

But you are not getting anything resembling a solid Edge at 3 years for 9M.
Sam being goofy is the only reason you get an athlete of his caliber at that rate.
And the one thing guys tend to do as they age is learn.

Recall Chauncey Gholston got 3 years and 19.5M and I do not think he made a single play in his Cowboys career.

He also did not just randomly jump offsides though so there is that.
Sam Williams has had more bad plays than impact plays.

He’s had 4 years. Hes done nothing.

Move on.

As reserve and budget friendly deal. The 3 years for $9M sounds reasonable to avoid creating another hole to fill.

Time to move on, he couldn't even be an average edge rusher when doubled and tripled team Parsons was playing opposite from him.

Not worth the money he may want, but you have to admit one thing.
Sam is a stud special team performer.

By the time a second contract is rolling up and your a speed edge not getting to the QB for sacks and you don’t set the edge on the run very well PFF is what’s supposed to make Dallas pay him to stay ?

Damone Clark Kelvin Joseph Jabril Cox Mazi Smith and yes Sam Williams will not be difference makers the sooner you move on look elsewhere the better off your D should become

What hole did Williams fill? Is low production a team need?

I heard a lot of talk from him but I didn't see anything close to proportional results.

His four year career includes a combined single-digit sacks. We can get that productivity from the majority of undrafted rookie free agents.

Idk.

He has talent. Its not easy to have a roughing the passer or enroachment penalty at the most important time im the game. Where it hurts your team the most.

He is able to do that. And even make it look easy. That alone should be worth another million or two.

Just let him go. This is the same routine with the front office too scared to get professional scouts to analyze players around the NFL.

Maybe it'll click for him one day, or he was just a reach pick by Quinn. But he hasn't once come close in 4 years of putting it all together.

He has played under 3 different DC. Keep him and let him use the gifts God gave him. If possible, in the same defense for 2 years in a row. Plus he is a very good ST player.

I know he has been hurt, but it's been 4 years. At some point he needs to start consistently producing and not just occasionally flash. His rookie deal was for $6,322,499 so he hasn't cost much at least.

The measurables are what got us in this mess. He isn't a good football player, you can get ST guys in the UDFA pool every year.

the only gift the guy has is drawing penalties in the worst situations.

he is an idiot (sorry this is no offense, the guy is just plain stupid) and doesnt get it even after 4 years.

the guy is just an great athlete but a bad football player.
