Free agent options for Dallas at LBer

It has to be a short and relatively cheap contract for Dean due to the injury issues.
- They basically have to have to have 3 starters for 2 positions due to injury issues with Dean and Overshown.
Dean won’t sign cheap long term, Overshown is due soon. I don’t have an issue carrying the extra man. See how it shakes out on the field and then extend one of them next year

Bingo!

Also, position value should be considered.

Free Agent off-ball LBs are one of the least expensive positions.

DT, Edge, WR, CB and OT are very expensive in FA. I prefer to draft those positions when possible.
LB and safety would be affordable signs. I don’t see us drafting a safety so especially safety

To really build this D we need to sign 2 goid FA. I ding think safety is falling to us at 12 worth a 12th pick so that would be one of go get. I wouldn’t trade for an expensive guy that costs picks. I’d sit with my DC and say which couple of FA safeties fit what you need? Abd I’d go get one of them. Then you look at next position ypu aren’t likely to get in draft and do the same. Maybe look at an older vet who wouldn’t be a long term deal so that if a guy fell to you at edge or LB you could still take him. CB is one position I think will be there, styles could but I really think bengals will take styles at 10. Cover your bases and draft the best player on the board and don’t worry about position. If you need to fill another hole after the draft some vets always get cut if a team draft that position. We have to go into camp with a CB, LB, edge and safety. I’d rather end up with an extra guy than short a guy
I think Dillon Thieneman will fall to us at 12. I would draft him there.

No chance he goes that high. I like him but he’s not a top 12 player. There’s gonna be much better options. He could fall to second
If you have him slotted as a more reasonable pick at 20 instead. You’re talking about 8 slots.

That’s not a big deal imo.

It’s a huge difference from who’s gonna be there at 12 and 20. I like the player but he’s not a will be there in late 20’s at best but likly early second

Parker knows Dean well. Hopefully he’s involved in ghe decision. And I think for once in a long time they will listen to his advice
I would think if Dean comes here, it would definitely be because of Parker, just like Zimmer getting Kendricks and Eberflus getting Sanborn. Front office sets the amounts that it is willing to spend (hence Quinn being unable to get Bobby Wagner) but seems to let the coaches go after players they want who fit within the monetary constraints.

Frankly, I think Dean will be out of our range or want a longer deal than we usually give FAs.

Not sure there will be better options, unless you want a WR or a Tackle.

A trade may be the best option at 12.

Styles, delane or mccoy
I don't think Styles will be go past 10. Delane did not run the 40 and McCoy didn't even participate in the combine.

I would go Theineman at 12 and trade down on our 20th pick. In the second round we can go with Chris Johnson or Colton Hood. Both would be instant starters.

He won’t “fall”. He will be there. And at 20. If we had our second round pick, he would be a good pick there.

He’s 36th spot on average across 102 big boards.

There are only two teams that any board even mocks him to in the first round.

I know he’s your pet cat, but we won’t take him in the first and he won’t make it to the fourth.

He won’t be in the second round. He might not even be there at 20, especially with the Rams and Vikings needing a safety.

Those mock drafts were done before the combine. Now that he ran a 4.3, someone will want to spend a first-round pick on him. He is rated as the second-best safety after Caleb Downs.

There is a real possibility that the best player available at 12 will be a tackle, not sure what they do then, the trade options may not be there.

Plenty of teams need a tackle.

I believe the Rams, who pick after us need a Tackle, so a team may want to trade to get in front of them.

Right. Given his performance at the combine, chances are increased that he might not be there at 20. His stock is rising. A real chess piece safety who can play high or low...FS...SS...even LB duties in some spots. Helluva athlete who gets downhill in a hurry.

I'm also hoping he will be there at 20...if Downs is gone before 12. He's a baller and a chess piece.

Mccoy will run at his pro day, styles probably won’t be there and delane will run at his pro day. Lots of players put off certain parts for their pro day
