News: Ravens back out of Crosby trade

This is a good development for us.

Yeah, he might be hurt. But I watched this guy for all his games the last three seasons (I live in Northern CA which is still Raider country). There are few players who bring all that he does. It isn't about the stats. The leadership is massive.

I expect the Raven's issue revolved around contract demands -- Raven's doctors can say whatever they want and derail a deal. Unless we are talking about a long-term issue, Crosby needs to get got.

Agreed Abe. Even if it is a longterm issue, it is only knee arthritis which will take years to build up. By that time, his career will be over anyways.

A guy like Crosby is a difference maker however I was against the price the ravens paid.

I do know however you’d have to be an idiot to think that this injury is so severe that all the other teams who went after him weren’t aware of it. It was known.

We the fans do not have the imaging reports, physical exam results, etc. Teams get SOME information from existing medical reports and imaging from the players and the trading team. Then the trading team gets to have their own doctors and healthcare team do another set of exams and potentially more imaging. Based on their own medical team, the prior assessment of extent of injury can get thrown out or the trade fulfilled.

I know the Cowboys did extensive medical exams on Jaylon Smith, LVE, Sean Lee, etc. They still drafted them in the first two rounds when other teams passed in part due to medical evaluations. Teams will put together a trade proposal and then assess on the physical. Some teams pass the player’s physical if the player passes a breathing air exam (Cowboys)-other teams have more strict evaluations (other teams). Not all information is available prior to a trade agreement. The fantasy of a healthy Crosby playing for the Cowboys is what you are holding onto. Who knows what Crosby will do this season-not any of us.

Every reporter, all the executives off the record have said the general consensus is the ravens got cold feet. Every team and there were several going after him, knew of the injury and knew he’d be out until July. THIS WAS KNOWN.

Rapoport wrote about this in January. So unless Crosby is an alien and his image looked unlike anything anyone has ever seen that’s not the issue

The whole thing is absolutely shady… there’s no way you should be able to renege on a deal after the start free agency after the start of the legal tampering period.
This is a case of cold feet and don’t believe anything about a physical.

Raiders are in a tough spot now. Most teams have used up most of their cap funds and they signed several players knowing they had extra cap space. Since the league year officially starts today, think some of those deals cannot be finalized.

This is an opening for the Cowboys, a to get maxx at a discounted price or b they are forced to get out of those two linebacker deals where the cowboys liked both players

The Cowboys own team doctor, a premiere knee specialist (Dr. Daniel Cooper) was part of the advisory for the Ravens on Crosby's MRI scans. So this might explain why the Cowboys weren't willing to go (2) first rounders (if they knew in advance what the MRIs looked like) or why they backed away so quickly and adopted plan B (trading for Gary).

It's less about what was known (the surgery) and more about what the knee looks like under scan post surgery. The guy has had eight surgeries over seven years. Not all of them knee surgeries but still.

The Raiders are still cap compliant with the return of Crosby. They do not have to move him. They are not going to give him away.

Public knowledge of a surgery is not the same as post-surgery examination of MRI scans by a group of doctors. Dr. Daniel Cooper (the Cowboy's team doctor) is a premiere knee specialist who was part of the advisory for the Ravens. Evidently, Cooper is the knee-guru and if he finds something concerning people listen. They could've found something degenerative or possibly degenerative in the scans. We simply don't know. Whatever was found (if something was found) scared off the Ravens.

That’s what I’m torn on. Because if he’s ok couldn’t they just negotiate a lesser package? I think it’s a shady game being played by both teams….

Yeah I gave up on this offseason. I think they are just talking I don’t think they ever planned on signing Dean or Walker if they did they would’ve done it and overpaid.
