Signed by Cowboys Jonathan Mingo: one year, $1.145 million (see post 45 for details)

Trading a 4th for Johnathan Mingo was even dumber.

That was the point of my post. Micah was just the example.

Do you realize they traded a 4th rounder for Mingo and he hasnt even broken the starting lineup? He has less receptions and receiving touchdowns than Breece Hall. Let that sink in.

The point of my post is, the guy cant beat out Flournoy. Cut him. Hes a waste of a roster spot. Jerry wont do it, because he thinks hes the smartest guy in the room at all times.
The only reason Mingo is staying is because Jerry gave up that 4th.

I agree this is still trying to justify the investment.

I am just happy they at least made the move to cut his salary.

Cowboys have WR they traded 4th-round pick for take pay cut to stay

He was scheduled to make $1.145 million in base salary in 2026, barely above the veteran minimum. So when Wilson tweeted the following, it initially didn't make much sense.

But the devil is in the details. According to contract website Spotrac, it is in fact a new deal. Mingo's rookie contract he signed with the Panthers that the Cowboys absorbed included an $813,000 workout bonus. It appears that Dallas went to him and told him if he wanted to remain in the system he's spent the last year and a half learning, as opposed to being released into free agency, he'd have to forgo the bonus.

Flournoy isnt expected to beat out Lamb. What a weird comment.

Mingo considering where he was drafted and what was spent to get him here was absolutely supposed to beat out Flournoy.

Man critical thinking really has left the premises hasn't it?
Lower drafted players beat out higher drafted players across the league.

Yeah, it's definitely "ain't" your strong suit!

So, league minimum and they cut almost a million bonus.

Nothing to be mad at here. Teams need fourth and fifth WRs

1.14M is a waste? Come on, its nothing and he's most likely WR4 or WR5.
Here is what scares me...all these crap signings....they start to add up. I mean the difference between us getting Dean was a few million ....So why not spend the extra to get the guy you really want ??? Instead here we are scrapping the barrel...wasting cap space...on bottom of the roster guys. Makes absolutely no sense.

Wonder if they guaranteed him any money to do that? Generally, there's a trade-off.

Another 1 year mercenary.

They better start off fast and win early. Mercenaries are not vested. Schotty has a heck of a coaching task ahead of him.

I still can't believe we wasted a 4th rounder on this bum but the Ravens got the better wr "Diontae Johnson" and only had to give up a 5th rounder and they also got the panthers 6th rounder in the deal. lol.

We gave up a 4th rounder for a guy who had 6 catches for 21 yards in 1 and a half season's with us lol But we couldn't even get a 4th rounder for Tolbert?????

Looks like it’s non guaranteed.
Hmmm ... I guess he was just desperate to stay. Figured he'd at least get $400,000 guaranteed out of it.

He could be Pickens insurance. I would love for someone to give us a second rounder and maybe a 3rd or 4th for Pickens.
